Happy Howl-oween! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Happy Halloween Week!

Yep, this week ends on Halloween and we’ve jam-packed it with bloody-good fun! Our meeting was a real grab-bag filled with spiders and worms and centipedes and severed fingers and eyeballs- all the spooky stuff – so this week’s MMN is gonna share that with you!

Of course, from the werewolf side of things, we have the finale of the W20 Apocalyptic Record KS which exploded in the last couple of days like a pack of Garou attacking a Pentex advance team!

If you know what I mean.

Absolutely fantastic efforts from all of our team and our backers and we unlocked several extra W20 projects via Stretch Goals so we have a howlin’ good bloc of Garou excellence for all our W20 fans!

In fact, those W20 Apocalyptic Record Stretch Goal projects – W20 Icons of Rage and the W20 Howls of the Apocalypse Scenario Book – are already being written and on our progress report below!

In Kickstarter-land, and as scary as you want to make it, our next KS will be for Trinity Continuum: Anima! This is our newest of the TC core books, and features a dual setting with the futuristic dystopian “cyberpunk” time period focused on the gleaming and perfect city of Cascade combined with being able to play in Cascade’s most popular virtual fantasy game world!

But if you keep an eye on our social media as we share with you the social media of Cascade and its gamers these next few weeks before the Kickstarter, you’ll learn more about the city…and what’s really going on…

They Came From Beyond the Grave! art by Ken Meyer Jr.

And now, here are some gooey bits from the Halloween meeting grab-bag:

I mentioned this last week, but must reiterate: Like, buy now!

The shipping and manufacturing crisis is affecting the publishing industry around the world, from top to bottom. Publishers are delaying books that were supposed to be ready for the holidays into 2022 due to manufacturing and shipping slow downs, so if you can, order your books for the rest of the year now!

Also, as this came up last week with our release of Hundred Devil’s Night Parade for Exalted 3rd, please check and make sure your DTRPG account is set to receive emails from Onyx Path if you want discounts and other cool stuff from us. That’s how they have it set up to work, so please do.

Speaking of Hundred Devils (a book just filled with scary monsters and super creeps) and the Advance PDF that came out last week: I’m told that for a glorious moment it outsold the latest D&D release out there on DTRPG. A sweet Halloween treat!

Legendlore art by Brian LeBlanc

Mr. Ian Watson of Ft. Lee, New Jersey sends us a note reminding us that years and years ago, several novels were announced for Trinity/Aeon but never came out. Scary but true! Now the news is that we have put a stake in that old concern as we’ve just released to backers the very first Trinity Continuum: Aeon novella, entitled Dawn!

Speaking of fiction, Scion: Tales of Heroes is in proofing! That’s the Scion Anthology that was a Stretch Goal awaaay back during the Scion 2e Kickstarter. Releasing this does complete the KS’s SGs, so that’s scary yet triumphant. Like watching that vampire lord crumble into ash.

Which brings up our two releases this week: the Dracula’s Tomb Tasty Bit PDF that gives you the chance to go toe-to-toe with that big bad vampire of all big bad vampires in They Came From Beyond the Grave! and the Advance PDF for the They Came From Beyond the Grave Jumpstart!

Two, two, two chances to face the darkness and win the day (or fail miserably and die a gruesome Halloween-ific death)!

Sales-wise, we actually do still have two Halloween sales going for the rest of the week with DTRPG‘s yearly Halloween Sale, and IPR‘s second annual Halfoween Sale! Both have fearfully good discounts on our projects and have links below in the Sales Partners section.

And like I noted above, get in there now for the physical projects and as for the PDFs – well, the sales are both over after Halloween.

One more sales thing: the M20 Rich Bastard’s Guide to Magick Advance PDF is going out to the folks who pre-ordered this week, and should be our Wednesday sales item the first week in November.

Coming full circle – like a full moon – below in the Onyx Path Media section are some Werewolf Actual Plays from the recent virtual SAVE convention. Well worth checking out here on Howloween!

Finally, all of us at Onyx Path hope you have a fun and safe Halloween with all the thrills and chills you desire! We’d love to hear about it, especially if you wind up playing any of our games as part of your fear-festivities!

Now I’m wishing I hadn’t used the bat-time line last week to sign off. Well, guess I’ll just get on my Nightmare and ride off to our:

Many Worlds, One Path!

Blurbs!

COMING SOON: We’ll be Kickstarting the next core book in the Trinity Continuum: Anima!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Today in 1993, beloved Halloween horror icon and awesome mustache wearer Vincent Price passed into the great beyond. We hope that wherever he is, he’s eggcellent, as we know he had “the soul for getting down” and didn’t need to “face the hounds of hell”!

Pity They Came From Beyond the Grave! corebook will not come out on Halloween. At least we will have Jumpstart to test system. 😉

It needs an index, so that’s just what it is. Not really going to rush it out for a holiday tie-in stunt, y’know?

How do the upcoming changes to Astral tabletop affect Onyx Path?

    1. richt Avatar
      richt

Well, we’re going to wait and see if our current projects on there are playable -as we’ve been told- for a good long while. Then we’ll look at whether to add to them or not. Obviously, Astral is just one of several VTT venues we’re working with, and our VTT projects that are venue-agnostic we’ll still be offering and expanding on. So, a bit of an impact front-wise but not a lot in the big picture, long-term. Thanks!

Is Onyx Path going to continue making content for Astral Tabletop now that the owner announced that he is no longer going to support the platform and is going to retire?

    1. richt Avatar
      richt

We’re going to see where DTRPG decides to take Astral ultimately. No point in putting together further big projects besides those that can work on multiple VTT venues if they are thinking of actually closing it down after a certain time. But if they let it run and just don’t add any more features, it is still a valid VTT way to play.

I remember the dedication White Wolf wrote to Mr. Price in a Werewolf 1E book (Caerns: Places of Power, I believe) lo those many years ago. “The gentlemanly master of horror” indeed.

Also, many thanks to Dixie and her cadre of editors for really hacking and slashing at the backlog. Well done!

Yes indeed, I think you have to try really hard not to appreciate him! And speaking of appreciating: I know that our editor’ll appreciate your appreciating the hard work they do – thanks!

So, when you have multiple KS for a line ongoing…like say how you have Demigod and Dragons and Mythos all wrapped up in terms of the KS aspect of the campaign…do you work them in order or the KS? Or have you ever decided to get one done earlier due to, say, really good work done on it? Like, in the example I cited, suppose that you got a ton of work done on Dragon and got it out before Demigod or Mythos?
Or do you prioritize them in the order in which the KS was done? I am curious.

    1. richt Avatar
      richt

If all the pieces come together for a particular project, we don’t hold it up because of other KS’d projects. I can see a scenario where we wouldn’t want a game that requires a different game in order to play or make sense going out before the needed game, but we do try to not schedule them that way to begin with.
