Hey Wait! It’s Friday!

MR Front

How did we get here? Last thing I remember was going into my Monday Lunch Meeting…

Yep, it was that kind of week.

So rather than a full catch-up right now, here are the highlights, and we’ll pick right back up on Monday like this whole skipping a week thing never happened.

Mortal Remains is on sale in PDF, physical book PoD, and PDF/PoD combo versions on DriveThruRPG. This book catches our hunters up on the creatures that stalk the lives of mortals besides vampires, werewolves, and mages. Creatures that inhabit Promethean, Changeling, Geist, Mummy, and Demon. It also briefly and basically updates Hunter: The Vigil with God Machine mechanics. These new foes are all kinds of trouble for hunters (and some new Compacts, etc), and also some fun hunter-based trouble for the various supernaturals that expand on their lines.

– The biggest project that kept me so, so very busy this week was setting up the Deluxe W20 Book of the Wyrm Kickstarter. It was submitted yesterday and I just got word today that it was OK’d by Kickstarter! Yay! So we will be going live on Tuesday June 3rd, at 12 noon Eastern US time. Something we are adding this time, and are giving you fair warning about now if you want to participate because this Reward will go fast, is that we’re adding a Reward Tier for you or your character being a nominee for the Pentex Board of Directors. This Tier includes getting your likeness included in official Board Nominees art- and then in the new Pentex Board of Directors art if you’re elected. Reward Tiers will have a certain number of votes per pledge, and we will tabulate the votes based on answers we get from your Surveys. So, we’re shaking things up a bit, but think this can be a lot of fun, especially since we’re encouraging Nominees to use the comments section of KS, and our Onyx Path forums and blogs and Facebook pages, etc, to convince other backers to vote for them. Can you get onto the Pentex Board to further your nefarious schemes? Or to infiltrate and bring it down from within?

– Part of my time was spent making up for the time I spent chatting on the View From the Path blog https://theonyxpath.com/an-interesting-conversation-about-schedules/ where we had several excellent conversations that started with concerns about our schedule and evolved into talking about Onyx Path‘s policies and philosophies about game book creation, our business model vis-a-vis new business and game stores, and more. It was nice that a bunch of the fans of our current direction popped on to lend their support, but I think it was even nicer that folks who had concerns felt free to voice them. In fact, it’s vital. I’ve tried to keep our overall workings as transparent as possible, and that especially includes these blogs as a place folks can express themselves even if that expression is criticism toward Onyx.

– Finally, a lot my time was spent personally shipping out the Ultra Deluxe W20 Heavy Metal Editions to backers. We are in the final stages of not just getting out the Rewards from that specific Reward Tier, but also to those folks who added an HME to their regular pledges. The lessons we have learned creating and shipping the W20 project have been huge, and this is particularly important to note in the light of the Ultra Deluxes still to come from the Exalted 3rd and Mage 20 Kickstarters. There were huge manufacturing challenges with the W20 HMEs, and having met those challenges we are ready to apply that knowledge to the next ones. For example, I made sure that the secondary printer who will create the lenticular tarot card for the Ultra Deluxe M20 cover had actually created hundreds of lenticular process images before OKing that special feature. Similarly, we are dry running the shipper for the Deluxe Changing Breeds ship-out by having them send me a sample package from their warehouse to me to confirm their packaging is right for our deluxe projects, because I now know some of the packaging pitfalls first hand

OK- that’s all I have. Enjoy your weekend and talk to you Monday!.

As someone who purchased the Mortal Remains PDF, is there any ETA on when we will receive the coupon for purchasing the POD?

I normally get emails from DriveThru that contain the coupons(and have gotten them for every other one) but have yet to receive one for Mortal Remains and I really(REALLY) want the POD.

I sent the e-mails with the PoD discount links out to folks who had purchased the PDF about 2 minutes after I activated the Print versions of the book.

Check your spam filter when you get a chance and if it isn’t there contact Customer Service on DTRPG.

Just ordered it. It was in the spam folder. Thanks!

Mine doesn’t seem to be in my inbox *or* my spam folder. Is there a particular subject line I should be looking for? (Because “hunter”, “mortal remains”, “print” and “discount” in various combinations are not returning anything useful.)

Mine already arrived. Might wanna check your spam filter and/or bug customer service.

Hey, off topic, but next Monday can you give us a hint / teaser about Trinity and Scion’s status? At one point there was talk about a Trinity blog post.

If you can’t, because the crew isn’t ready for that, its cool. I’m just asking. I found some buddies (non-Onyx Path RPG Freelancer/Colleagues) who were into Aeon/Aberrant and we were even talking about a secret Aberrant game at PaizoCon in Seattle this July. Then I realized they didn’t know about Onyx Path and the new version. I made at least three or four freelancers (myself included) squeee with excitement. You got writer fans that don’t even work for you!

    Have a great weekend!

Jim- ask them to reach out to me. We can also use experienced writers with a special fondness for one of our game worlds. As for any word on Trinity or Scion- right now that depends on Joltin’ Joe Carriker wrapping up the system doc.

I will! I might reach out myself when my deadlines have been met.

        Excitement building, Joltin’ Joe 😉

Really looking forward to giving the new (insert name here) system a run through. Its great that you’re unleashing it for feedback. So close to new Aeon stuff now 😀

As one of Jim’s aforementioned buddies (the Oregonian one, to be more exact), is there a particular manner or venue that you’d like us to reach you through? Other than, or in addition to here?

        Thanks,

        Robert

Overall, I think email is the best way to do business, so richt@theonyxpath.com if you want to give me an idea of what you’d like to work on and why? A link to your site and your stuff. That sort of thing.

            Solid.

Thanks for the email address, I’ll kick you out a missive here, tout de suite.

It’ll make for a nice use of the dinner break between day job and freelance work, no?

            Thanks, again.

No status update on Flowers of Hell? Release sounded imminent two weeks ago and then radio silence since.

This is from the Monday Meeting Notes from May 19th- not really a full 2 weeks ago: DtD Players Guide: Flowers Of Hell: Need a couple more pieces of art to arrive and it is ready for CCP approvals. And then Black Hat Matt posted a page. So not really silence.

This one, I explained I wasn’t posting an Update on everything. Next Monday, you’ll hear more.

Whee! Book of the Wyrm 20th!

Also, I know from twitter that you were asking about Gen Con 1993, but all I could find was this:
    http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/werewolf-apocalypse-1st-ed-lot-oop-169413555

Apparently, White Wolf gave out Pentex Shareholder Certificates (Which seem to be rare now). I wonder if something like that will be given to backers?

Incidentally, I just got my PoD copy of Exalted: Tale of the Vanishing Flare. It is a very pretty book. I’m looking forward to using the PoD service more often.

Got my CB20 stretch goal book of short stories. And I have to say, reading stories about my beloved feras is a pure joy. In particular the Rokea and Ananasi were simply delicious. I still have to find time to read the last two tales (Mokolé and Nuwisha) but I can barely wait. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Which brings me to the topic of novels. I honestly can’t express how immensely wonderful it would be to have a collection of “breed novels” or at least just novels themed specifically around the feras. I had to put it out there in case it could ever become a possibility. With novels already on the way for W20, I’ll allow myself to be hopeful.

Glad to hear that the Changing Breeds packaging is going to be done differently, I was quite disappointed at the condition my W20 Deluxe arrived in. If Changing Breeds arrives in good nick then I might pledge for more Deluxe editions in the future.

who much is this pentex reward tier going to cost? is it only for people that have a ton of money in their wallets?
