Mummy: The Curse Kickstarter starts tomorrow

As noted in today’s Monday Meeting notes, the Mummy: The Curse Kickstarter will begin at noon Eastern Time on December 18.

Rich says:

Now, we are doing something a bit different with this one and I want to explain it a bit here: unlike the last three Kickstarters we have done, this one doesn’t start out as a Deluxe project. Instead, we’re asking contributions to help us create a traditionally printed, hardcover, two-color interior book that has the same look and feel as books like the core nWoD book, or the core Vampire the Requiem, or Changeling the Lost, or other core game-line books. That way, we can keep both the goal amount and initial buy-in reward tier for a physical copy less expensive than the deluxe books we’ve done via KS before. The cost will be comparable to what VtR or CtL ran back in the day. THEN, if we can pass the Stretch Goals, we’ll add Deluxe Features like gilded page edges, silk bookmarks, and eventually a cool embossed leatherette cover treatment. (And there will be other fun Stretch Goals in there too, like with W20). So, in the interest of continuing to respond to and work with our great community,  how deluxe we get is up to the backers, and there’s not such a high barrier to folks pledging for a physical copy. It’s an experiment, so we’ll see how it goes.

So, to sum: you can buy in at a relatively reasonable price and, if we hit our goals, you get a hardcover like other core rulebook hardcovers we’ve printed in the past.

But we’ll have a bunch of “deluxe” stretch goals to hit. Each one of those goals we hit adds a deluxe feature to the book you’ll be getting. Cloth bookmark, gilt edges, leatherette cover, embossing. If we hit enough stretch goals, your reasonably-priced book is now a full deluxe edition.

That’s on top of the other special (non-deluxe) stretch goals.

We’re really looking forward to it. Watch this site for updates!

Wait, I’m confused. Wasn’t the book supposed to have come out already? What’s going on with the scheduling, feel like I missed an update here.

Sadly, Jess, there were delays. ALOT of sadly upsetting, rather than mere logistical, events rolled into hefty delays. There were logistical delays as well, but that’s history.

That said, I’m very happy at what I believe I’m reading here. This is a sublime method to produce beautiful deluxe offers without forcing incredibly high costs for the initial hard cover – and that astounds me. It’s exactly what I needed during the Xmas holidays to lift my spirits.

Nothing worse than being broke and away from my extended family during the holidays. Though my immediate family gifts are in healthy supply I won’t be getting much this year thanks to life’s many nuances.

I saved enough I’m sure to at least get a hard cover and the potential to get a lil something extra in my hard cover if the community can support the product is an amazing surprise gift.

I hope the best for this project as I’ve been a passionate fan of Mummy since it’s first incarnation. And though it’s always had it’s little ‘bits’ I didn’t always agree with thematically, I’ve always been pleased.

Happy holidays to the community and to the development team – God bless especially to those who’ve suffered over these last few months, and of course to my fellow soldiers overseas!

Jess, please keep an eye on our release schedule and on the Monday Meeting blog. They always have the most up-to-date information available. Mummy unfortunately hasn’t been released yet, but it should be soon.

Afinal na campanha de amanhã do novo Mummy a oferta inicial é uma versão regular que pode ser “upgraded”. :) http://t.co/vbl3ZNyz

Much thanks to you guys for keeping this comparable to the price range of the past nWoD books. I was terrified getting a hard copy was going to cost me hundreds of dollars.

Hey guys, can’t wait for the Curse! :D

Wasn’t there talk of publishing the pdf alongside the Kickstarter so that we could take a look before throwing our money at you? I loved this idea because every nWoD core since Promethean has been FAR better than its basic idea and its teasers.
