New Release: Rites of the Blood

Rites of the Blood

Advance PDF now available from DriveThruRPG!

In the deepest crimson depths of their being, raw power waits to be brought to the surface. Through their force of will, Kindred can drag this power kicking and screaming into the open to perform miraculous feats and twisted blasphemies. These rituals have been developed to direct and focus this new force, unconstrained by the structure of the known Disciplines. As such, only one word has been seen fit to describe this power that has echoed throughout the ages. Magic.

Rites of the Blood is a collection of rituals practiced among the various Kindred sects and Clans. This isn’t just a collection of powers, but an examination of the sects themselves and how they use their eldritch mystical arts: the Thaumaturgy of the Camarilla Tremere, the bloody rites and patchwork sorcery of the Sabbat, the creepy and alien practices of the Tal’Mahe’Ra, “street” rituals from the Anarch contingent, the sorceries of the Assamites and Setites, the necromancy of the Giovanni, and even some of the mysterious ways of the Inconnu.

This book includes:

  • A look at how the various Kindred factions view and utilize blood sorcery in the modern nights.
  • A number of new rituals, Sabbat rites, and other powers for the various blood sorceries of the Kindred.
  • Revising and updating more classic Vampire: The Masquerade blood sorcery material to V20.

Um, hi. Longtime lurker/fan here. I normally would not post here, and I realize that product announcements might not be responded to, but I have a small quandary this week regarding this product:

I realize the schedule is mercurial and in a recently reestablished publishing format, things such as particular funding plans are transient, but I was wondering how, when this product was planned for a Kickstarter was released for purchase before it occurred. I realize it is an advance PDF, and as such could be a version of the nearly complete text that has all its other assets (presentation/art/etc.) already implemented, and the product itself has been in development for a significant period. Yet, it seems the product is well on its way to full release in a relatively recent change of direction for the product.

As I stated before, I usually just observe silently, and additionally am not very invested in V20 or it’s supplements, but I also want to state that I intend no criticism. I was just curious about how the product went from reserve space for the deluxe edition’s funding to having a comprehensive advance release of the near-finished material. Even though I read the blog regularly, I could have easily just missed a notice or news update.

Will remain watching in the dark.

Rich mentioned in the Monday Meeting notes about a month ago that this book would not be Kickstarted.

One small piece of feedback, this book desperately needs an index. Every RPG book does 🙁

My copy of Hunters Hunted II, for example, is almost more bookmark than book currently.

I can understand the concern about indexing, but I think that the very-complete table of contents on this book is a fine substitute… if not being a superior tool! You might notice that all Onyx Path books have recently had this feature, which I personally quite like!

I’ve read the book until midway through the Sabbat Chapter and it is awesome. I’m so glad you guys created this book!
