    I’mma go out on a limb here and assume that Beast isn’t coming out in 2013. <_<;

You haven’t been playing Beast: the Primordial? Oh man, it’s been my favorite game for the past year!

With the Chronicle books being replaced by second editions, will Beast be coming out in a second edition format? That is, as a singular game book instead of one that requires a corebook?
Will Demon be getting it’s own “second edition”, since it just has the GMC Rules Update in the appendix at the moment?

Beast will be similar in structure to Blood and Smoke and the other second edition books. It won’t require any other rulebooks.

You will launch a guide for rules adaptation between old (2004) and new editions, as Chaosium made ??in CoC 7th edition?

Beast sounds an awful like the The Primals I’ve been working on for the last few years .. I’ve even posted info on how I was developing them in the forums … I will be very interested in see exactly how much is the same .. very interested.

Hey, good luck with that. I’m not sure how you can even tell WHAT the hell Beast: the Primordial sounds like from the cryptic as fuck post…

That’s always how White Wolf announces their next gamelines. I don’t at all hold it against ’em; it’s always kind of fun to try to figure out the teases. Geist was confusing as HELL when first announced.

One of my players guessed that dragons or something akin could be the new game line mentioned a while ago……guess he wasn’t so far off with the title for the new game line (probably it will be possible to create a dragon with that)

Where’s the schedule for the Classic WoD?

Given this was posted just after the nWOD Gencon panel, the cWOD schedule should be posted just after the cWOD panel finishes in just over an hour.

“Become the thing that Heroes fear”. Oh, no. It sounds like the parts I didn’t like about Werewolf on steroids. Plus I want to play the Hero. Maybe that’s what I need to be looking at, an old-fashioned heroic fantasy RPG, because I haven’t liked anything I have seen of the nWoD Second Edition.

You guys at White Wolf/Onyx Path have provided me with seven years of high quality entertainment, and I have to thank you for that. Sadly for me it’s looking more and more like that is coming to an end.

If you want to play the hero slaying the monsters, there’s Hunter: The Vigil and also some of the alternate setting stuff in Mirrors. Other than that, I think that just maybe if you want some heroic fantasy, looking for it in the World of Darkness line is kind of like going into a sushi bar looking for a porterhouse steak. Not that there’s anything wrong with being into either heroic fantasy or steak, but you should keep the nature of your supplier in mind.

Of course, that said, at some point there will be Exalted which has a lot of heroic action and also fantasy. And the Trinity Continuum and Scion lines will be a lot more of an action-adventure sort of thing. And while I don’t know when it’s coming out (they just announced it Saturday), Eddy is working on a much more light-hearted fantasy game called Pugmire. And finally, they’re reviving the Scarred Lands d20 setting but I couldn’t tell you how heroic or fantastical it is because all I personally know about it is that there are lands which are apparently scarred.

Scarred Lands in set in a D&D world called Scarn, which is somewhat darker than the standard D&D setting and suffers from the fallout of the war between Gods and Titans. All kinds of horrible creatures created by the defeated Titans and the more evil of the Gods are still around, and various places have been ravaged and mutated by strewn Titan bodyparts.

Yay! Very surprised that Promethean is getting the treatment before Changeling or am I missing something? So—WoD is jumping into heroic fantasy with Beast. Should be interesting to say the least. Cool news all round 🙂

They’re going in original publication order, which went Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Promethean, Changeling…

So is Beast: The Primordial going to be the GMC equivalent of the cWoD’s Changing Breeds? Please tell me it is. Please?

    1. Me Avatar
      Me

New World of Darkness already has that. It’s called “Changing Breeds”

As noted, WoD: Changing Breeds already exists (and another take on them exists in War of the Pure).

      Beast is something else entirely.

Will the God Machine Chronicle book be revised to include the full rules rather than just the update? I was thinking of buying it with my PoD coupon from the Demon kickstarter.

As odd as it might sound, I’m really happy at how few books (7 but 2 of those are fiction anthologies) are on this list. Considering the number of game lines Onyx Path has going at once (I think the most of any tabletop RPG company) I’ve always been afraid of their schedule getting “too busy”.

After all the number of projects likely to “bleed-over” from the last 4 months of this year into next year (of the top of my head A Thousand Year of Night, Demon ST Guide, Curse Necropolis Rio), plus all the extra Kickstarter generated books, I think this is a much more realistic spread of products for a company Onyx Path’s size.

Weirdly despite being a massive fan of both Mummy and Demon I’m kinda happy they are being left fallow after their current run and no “extra material” is being generated just for the sake of extra material next year. I feel its nice to have concise 4-8 book “limited” game lines that don’t end up suffering setting/system bloat like say Changeling.

Its nice to see the “big three” lines getting an additional book in addition to their core second ed releases. With Vampire racking up a total of 3 splat books. While some people might see that as exceedingly slow progression for a line, I’m kinda happy each line is getting a more realistic measured release structure that will hopefully provide us with fewer but more high quality splat books. I mean does Requiem 2nd Ed really need the 40 something books that 1st Ed had?

Also, liking that Promethean is getting some love after so many years in the “back corner” of the NWoD.

Huh. So not all fantasy creatures are Fae. Interesting. Please keep us blogged when 2015 rolls around.
