Monday Meeting, News

Rich Bastard’s Guide art by Emmanuel Desiati

This blog post says it’s posted by Richt, but in fact this week the Monday Meeting blog is written by the unholy alliance of Eddy and Dixie while the Thomases are on vacation. In a tiny cabin in the woods upstate. Where they will be very happy.

Don’t look into it. Just trust me. You can’t hear them, but they’re very happy.

In all seriousness, Rich and Lisa really are on their annual family vacation which usually happens around Gen Con time. And, normally, it would be around Gen Con time but… well… waves vaguely at everything. So instead I (Eddy, Lord of Pugmire) will be writing all the blog-y bits, while I (Dixie, Empress of Editorial) will be writing all the update-y bits. We didn’t have a meeting, but we certainly have stuff to talk about!

Speaking of Gen Con, Onyx Path doesn’t have any plans to attend the in-person Gen Con, but we do have a few events for Gen Con Online! The schedule just went live, so here are some events to check out:

Friday, September 17th, 11am EDT: Storypath Q&A! Join the Onyx Path crew for a Q&A about their in-house system and the games powered by it, including Trinity Continuum, Scion Second Edition, They Came From!, and Dystopia Rising: Evolution.

Friday, September 17th, 1pm EDT: Trinity Continuum: Anima Playtest! Eddy will run a three-hour playtest of the Anima rules!

Saturday, September 18th, 11am EDT: What’s Up with Onyx Path? Join some of the Onyx Path developers and employees while they talk about what they’ve been working on recently!

Saturday, September 18th, 4pm EDT: They Came From Beyond the Grave! Matthew will run a three-hour introductory scenario to a game of 1970s Hammer Horror-esque chills and thrills, and not a little ham and comedy with it.

Gen Con has just so many events that we were happy to even get these few onto the schedule. So swing by (virtually) and say hi!

Squeaks in the Deep is on its final few days on Kickstarter! While we funded in the first day, I’d personally love it if we could beat how much Pirates of Pugmire did ($47,792). We’re already unlocked some exciting stretch goals, like playable rabbit PCs and VTT support!

All hail the rabbit king!

I know rabbits were very exciting for a lot of folks, and I’m looking forward to figuring out how they fit into the overall plan for the Realms of Pugmire, but honestly the VTT support goals are the ones I’m personally more excited about. Because over the past couple of years, I’ve learned how important virtual tabletops are. They kept me in touch with a lot of my friends during the quarantine, and I want to make sure Squeaks in the Deep in particular (and Pugmire in general) is easy for folks to use in whatever form they game.

So if you haven’t already, swing by the Kickstarter and pledge whatever you think is fair!

Recently the Onyx Pathcast crew have gone all the way back to nearly the beginning (episode nine!) to talk about freelancing for Onyx Path. We’ve learned a lot since 2018, so we spent last Friday talking a bit about how things have changed, as well as going over what kinds of things freelancers can expect to encounter here at Onyx Path. In fact, we had so many things to say that it spilled over into this week’s episode as well, along with some discussion of sound and music in movies and TV.

Even though we didn’t have a meeting, that didn’t stop Operations from chugging right along. IPR is having their Summer Sale, with a lot of 20th Anniversary books and dice on sale, along with Cavaliers of Mars, Scion, and Scarred Lands. Check out all the deals on their website:

Also, Ian and Dixie have been posting dog pictures for Mike Chaney. Seriously – we love Mike so much that our private work Discord has a channel just called “Puppies For Mike,” and it’s a regular dose of cuteness. Including this adorable puppy.

I love this dog so much.

Anyhow, we should probably dig Rich up… uh, I mean, make sure everything’s okay for when he totally gets back from vacation from one of his…

Many Worlds, One Path!

Rats and mice join the world as player characters! Come explore the hidden depths under the skin of the world and below the City of Pugmire!

Our next Kickstarter is slated to be The Apocalyptic Record for Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Back when Eddy used to do this on the White Wolf LiveJournal, he’d look up the Wikipedia page for the date in question. August 9th has… a lot of battles and wars, honestly. But it’s also the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, which is very cool.

This week, Promethean first edition turns fifteen, and Geist first edition turns twelve! Wow, time flies when you’re making creepy games! Of course, the second edition of those games are also fantastic, but they were both inspired by the hard work of the teams who worked on the first editions, for which we’re eternally grateful.

No GenCon panels on the OPP created universe of 10+ game lines, aka, CofD? Damn, Paradox is really doing its best to strangle it.

    • Ian A. A. Watson
      August 9, 2021 at 10:44 pm

We didn’t create it! The CofD dates back to 2004, and Onyx Path only came into existence in 2012.

Insofar as GenCon panels, Paradox typically isn’t involved in our panel process. Due to a number of factors, we were only able to put our focus on two panels and two games, so we did what we considered most important: a general Q&A for our Storypath games, and our standard What’s Up panel covering all our games.

It feels a bit reactionary to jump from “no news” to “Renegade is trying to destroy CoD.”
