Awakening 2 CoverNow available in print from DriveThruRPG: Mage: The Awakening 2nd Edition!

The world is a Lie.

Humanity is cursed into a prison of Sleep, ignorant of the wonder and danger all around them. Ground down into slavery to masters they’ll never see, beset by a plague of cares to distract them from the Truth.

You were like them, once, but now you are Awakened. You see the world beneath the Lie’s skin, and the Mysteries beckoning you into the shadows. Every day of your life, you hear the call of the supernatural, from the least ghost to the deepest cosmic enigmas.

You are a mage, one of the Wise. You see, know, and explore what others can’t imagine, from the depths of the human soul to the hidden corners of reality. Armed with your spells, driven by an addiction to Mysteries, you delve into the secrets of the world. Knowledge has a price, and the dangers are many.

This book contains:

  • The complete guide to playing a mage in the Chronicles of Darkness.
  • Reimagined Paths, Orders, and powers to create your Awakened characters and their allies, including an updated version of the most comprehensive free-form magic system in gaming.
  • Five example settings across the world, from Los Angeles to Salamanca, each with a central Mystery.
  • A brand-new look at all the strange places of the Fallen World, from the Lower Depths to the Emanation Realms, and what mages might find within.

Is there a core 2nd Ed book I need besides this?

The Chronicles of Darkness rulebook is useful, but not strictly necessary. The Mage 2e Rulebook is all you need to play.

Hey Rob P, just so you know, your comments weren’t deleted, they were waiting for approval. Thanks!

Thanks Rich. I had seen them in awaiting mod approval but then they disappeared. Either way, thanks for the response. Going to pick these up!

They appear as “waiting for mod approval” when you post, but once you refresh they’ll disappear, because you’re not logged into the site so there’s no “account” to tie your comments to. They’re still visible to us backstage.

Will there be a Jumpstart (I think you’re calling them?) for Mage? (I Just found out there was a quickstart for Demon and had to buy it)

I have a set of ready-made characters and a scenario that I use when demoing the game at conventions. It could, other workload, interest, and Approval permitting, get written up properly as a jumpstart.

        That’d be awesome

Finally! Really been looking forward to having a print copy on the table. Playing from iPads isn’t bad. But the physical thing is always so much easier to have around 🙂

I’ve forgotten how this works for non-Kickstarted products. I bought the Advance PDF when it came out. Should I have received a discount link to buy the hardcover less the PDF cost? Super-excited either way!

Will there be Prestige Editions of the Mage 2e available on indie press revolution at some point like with Mummy, Demon and Beast? I didn’t get a chance to kickstart this game (and I totally would have) so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get my hands on a prestige edition that way!

Sorry, none of our second edition rulebooks (Chronicles of Darkness, Vampire: The Requiem, Werewolf: The Forsaken, Mage: The Awakening, Promethean: The Created) were Kickstarted. Accordingly, no prestige editions exist. So if you want a physical copy, DriveThru is currently your only option.

The only CofD rulebooks we’ve Kickstarted have been the new game lines (Mummy, Demon, Beast) and Dark Eras.
