Speedy Thomas!

Since a lot of things are moving on a number of fronts, it’ll be easier to list them separately. So, it’s time for the return of…

Project Updates

  • Strange, Dead Love: Rich is waiting on a physical proof of the book before giving it the green light to go live.
  • Imperial Mysteries: The first proof of the layout should be coming in from Mike Chaney any day now.
  • Geist 1.1: Editing is taking a bit longer than anticipated, as there’s a lot more to fix than previously expected.
  • House Divided: The series is now called Falling Scales, and Brian Leblanc is doing art for the first one, while Michelle Lyons works on editing the draft.
  • V20 Companion: Justin is shooting us pieces of the book to look over before he sends them to edits.
  • Victorian Lost: I’m getting drafts in for review.
  • Masters of Jade: Brian Glass is getting in sketches for the art.
  • Shards of the Exalted Dream: Holden and Morke are talking over the outline and budget for this.
  • Mummy: Rich needs to get back in touch with C.A. Suleiman to finalize a few details and get this moving forward.
  • Book of Nod: After months of trying to get a decent print-on-demand version together, Pauline at DriveThruRPG might have finally managed to crack that particular nut.
  • Werewolf 20th: Ethan is allocating wordcount to writers.
  • Blood Sorcery: Russell is working on the outline for this.
  • Strangeness: Rich has ordered a proof of the print-on-demand version to review.
Meeting Notes
  • Rich was on a 16-hour trip to haul some stuff back from Atlanta. He was in town for such a short time that Bill Bridges called him Speedy Gonzalez, and I wasn’t even able to have dinner or anything with him.
  • Rich talks about how bad the design of the Baltimore road system is. I point out that St. Louis is just as bad. Still, the long trip went well.
  • We share tips on how to drug animals for long car trips, and talk about the last session of our online Vampire: The Masquerade game.
  • With Justin’s heavy workload, the V20 Companion blog is a bit light, but we’re hoping to kick it back into gear when Children of the Revolution is ready to start.
  • Rich and I again talk over different titles for Victorian Lost, but ultimately I need to see the full manuscript before I can decide on a better title. That’s how I came up with the title for Invite Only, which I quite like.
Today’s Reason to Drink: On December 12, 1408, the chivalric Order of the Dragon is created by the King of Hungary (Sigismund of Luxembourg).

  1. So, when you are assigning word-count, do you already have in-mind the lay-outs and how many pieces of artwork you’re going to have? Do you already have a mock-up document and you just insert the text as it comes in? Or is there another process you use where it kind of goes back and forth between adding text and adding artwork?

  2. How does Open Development work with this process of having writers work on the project?
If through the Open Development process new information/emphasis must be added or things have to be changed, does that go back to the “writers”, or does that information get changed without going back to the original writers?

  3. You need a new title for Victorian Lost? How about “We Are Not Amused”? Really sets it apart from Changeling the Dreaming.

      • I look forward to this. I bought the Vampire translation guide PDF and a physical copy at Gen Con when I saw it sitting there. And Werewolf is SOO much cooler. I never got into NWoD, but I’ll still happily support the product. Who knows, maybe it’ll make NWoD make more sense to me. 😀

  4. So you plan to kick Open Dev back into gear with Kiddies of the Rev. That means no more updates on V20Comp? Any teasers on what Justin did with the latest feedback perhaps? 🙂

Is Justin going to develop/write the Children ot Revolution as well?
