Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Deluxe Kickstarter is now live!

c20-logoWe’re delighted to announce that the Kickstarter for a deluxe edition of Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition is now LIVE!

Changeling: The Dreaming is the final of the original “big five” Classic World of Darkness games to get a deluxe edition core rulebook. We’re thrilled to round off the collection in style with this fan favorite.

Like all our deluxe editions, deluxe CTD20 is only available via this Kickstarter, which runs for a limited time only!

  1. I honestly hope they get the ultra deluxe, because all the suddenly increased pledges tend to push the total amount of the KS up a fair bit which is good for other stretch goals. I’m still sad there wasn’t an UDE for Wraith. While I wasn’t necessarily worried about it at the time looking back it would have helped the KS campaign a lot.

      • Well I’m mostly add there wasn’t an ultra deluxe because a glow in the dark wraith leather bound book would be amazing.

Since you have to add to your pledge to get the ultra deluxe it pushes the total pledge amount up some.

        • What does having a higher total do for the success of the KS? Not rhetorical, I know what I’m looking for as the creator, but wonder what you think about this.

          • I’m really just looking at it from the standpoint of hitting more stretch goals. The higher the total goes the more content gets developed. I know it’s not a huge bump from an extra addon like a UDE, but it’s something. More stretch goals are always awesome.

  2. A few questions….

    1. How different is the fae magic system from 1st ed?

    2. Is the shadow court featured in the book?

I would also like to request as a stretch goal….shadow court book 20

  3. It’s too bad Wraith20 KS wasn’t structured like this one. If it had been it would have raised as much or more funding than Changeling20.

Why were the Stretch Goals for Wraith20 so poorly structured and/or managed?

    • Every one of these things is different, just as every one of these games are different. Wraith’s Kickstarter felt different from this one for Changeling, but hey, the two games feel very different, too.

      • Well, the Wraith20 KS could have raised enough money so that it’s backers could have gotten a hardcopy of the Book of Oblivion. Because there were SO MANY STRETCH GOALS that were less than desirable (ie. adding short stories to an anthology) that didn’t happen. I think a poll of the backers should be taken to ask whether they prefer a proper physical sewn binding hardcover of a large Book of Oblivion book or an anthology of stories that, according to most publishers, are by nature hit-or-miss.

I know that’s harsh, but most of the backers leaving comments during the Wraith20 kickstarter were complaining about the stretch goals as the Kickstarter was happening – JUST TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT.

        • You mean a traditionally printed version of Book of Oblivion? That would never have been an option. But hey, sorry you didn’t like the free stuff for Wraith. Like I said before, lots of backers did.

          • I think after seeing the incredible success Changeling20 is currently enjoying, it’s clear the Stretch Goals which Wraith20 had hurt its funding raising performance.

I was going to buy a Deluxe Changeling20 HC, but in protest I’ve decided not to.

          • Keep in mind that Wraith was the least sold of the original lines. At the point that Changeling was moved to Art House Wraith was cancelled in large part due to sales. Changeling is doing better than Wraith was at this time, but it’s not like it’s a whole different scale of success.

        • There has never been an option for that kind of printing for stretch goals. That’s not financially viable.

Wraith had great stretch goals. While I didn’t care for the anthology so much either they responded to that feedback and started making those stretch goals “cost less” in pledge amounts so more resources could be devoted to game content. It was a good compromise. When all was said and done the content that made it into BoO was really solid.

  4. I wonder if the new Resurgence, thanks to hopes of Mars and such, would give any new information on what happened to Arcadia. I came into reading the books rather late and I don’t know if there’s any new news about the fabled land.

  5. Since we are coming up on the two more silk bookmarks stretch goal, I would suggest blue and green or purple might be the best colors for them.

  6. Are we going to ever get the content that was going to be in the cancelled supplement Keys to the Kingdom, about the Middle East and North Africa?
