The Kickstarter for the Prestige Edition of World of Darkness: Dark Eras begins in 24 hours!
Dark Eras contains historical eras for each of the World of Darkness games in the vein of New Wave Requiem, Mage Noir, and Victorian Lost. Each is represented by their own chapter, stretching from Alexandrian Greece to 1970s New York.
With your help, additional chapters may be added representing even more eras, or expanding upon the chapters we’ve already got.
Watch the Onyx Path site for the link!
Did you say 1970s New York? You’ve just given me a huge Bickle.
Oh, dear, our influences are showing. 🙂
Is it wrong that I already have a chronicle theme song in mind?

That’s the 60s.
Sixties…smichsties (?) It was an early cultural signifier of New York’s urban decay. It’s a perfect fit with Taxi Driver and Mean Streets.
Ooh! Will there be a section for the Third Crusade?
There isn’t a chapter on the Third Crusade, but mention your interest in the comments once the KS opens — we may take stretch goal ideas from there, as we have on previous KSes.
I am really interested in the Crusades. The Inquisition as well.
Any chance of it having an UDE?
Like our other nWoD projects, this is “prestige” rather than “deluxe.” While deluxe covers get special treatments like a leatherette texture, prestige projects look similar to the old traditional print books, with an embossed design and metallic finish.
So the tl;dr is that there’s probably not going to be an ultra-deluxe, since this isn’t a deluxe project.
The current projects state ‘Initially 320 pages. PDF/PoD/Deluxe Kickstarter.’
What the heck is a UDE?
Ultra Deluxe Edition
Will each era cover each supernatural? or will each era cover only one supernatural?
Each of the nine eras is one chapter, covering one game line. It’s possible that stretch goals could include crossover eras.
That’s kind of a bummer to me, although I understand that creating a dark era for each supernatural is too costly. I hope that you are right about the stretch goals.
Will it be possible to include a Beast Era?
Not entirely out of the question, but the final Dark Eras PDF may be out before the Beast Kickstarter, so it’d be a little weird.
A Dark Eras 2 with Beast isn’t out of question. BTW, is Dark Eras Second Edition? What’s about the gamelines without an second edition?
Speaking only as someone who has been watching this project’s public updates rather than someone with special/secret knowledge: Some parts will be GMC/2E-ish but others will be 1E, depending on the status of the individual game line. That said, most of these write-ups are heavy on setting and plot hooks and significantly lighter on mechanics, so 2nd Editions shouldn’t make anything here obsolete.
Eric’s correct. The book itself is neither 1e nor 2e; it’s broken down for each individual chapter. I believe Vampire and Demon are both 2e, and I think Hunter uses the Mortal Remains “patch” but mechanics are such that it’s not much of an issue to use straight 1e rules there. Everything else is 1e to the best of my knowledge.

if this does well enough, would you consider a Dark Eras 2?
A Forsaken Wild West?
