Onyx Path To Go Towards the Light!

Hello, my Onyx Path Publishing community!

As we start this new spring month, it is a glorious time of renewal. And your pals at Onyx Path are not immune to the warming breezes and glinting sun. In fact, we’re inspired as we look at the amazing successes of our own family-friendly Pugmire and that zany Yo! Ho! Pirate game 7th Sea to wonder if maybe the whole “we’re walking down a dark path in the dark” thing has run its course.

I mean, even though there’s a huge amount of both bathos and pathos (and Athos and Aramis) in the saga of our uplifted dogs wondering when their human creators will return (and wondering if it was their fault because they were Bad Dogs) I’m pretty sure we’ve had such overwhelming support for the game because dogs are cute and funny. At least, some people on the internet said that was the case.

Now, this is marketable.

I mean, I’m already talking with Neall about redesigning Scion. What’s another year or two for release in order to bring together a concept like this? Our heroes will be the children of the Muppets, the Care Bears, and whatever they call those My Little Ponies ponies. The pantheons will write themselves…and they are so colorful and cute! We need more of that in this crazy world of d…um, drabness.

Speaking of which, we know we can’t really do much to brighten our classic WoD lines, I mean even Changeling: the Dreaming only looks bright. Other than the “Balloon Bear”, it never really delivers on that promise to “lighten up, Vlad”. So we have an idea. We have had massive resistance to this from the new White Wolf Publishing, but we think we are wearing them down. Let’s just say that our idea involves “sparkles”.

Because they are set up to be more toolbox-y, the Chronicles of Darkness game lines are actually easier to tweak towards the cute. First, we’ll be creating seven more core rule books, each with a happier, more colorful, cover than the last. Chronicles of Kind of Hard to See Through Shadows, Chronicles of Dimness, Chronicles of Heavy Fog, Chronicles of Light Fog, Chronicles of Overcast Days, Chronicles of Lightness, and Chronicles of Oww, My Eyes!.

These will all be released within a single two-month period, but a year and a half later than expected. We’ll probably Kickstart them unless everyone says they want us to. Expect supplements like Light Eras, and Monster: the Not Really.

And, of course, Exalted 3rd Edition is already the happiest game there is!

It is a bright and sunny future I kind of see.

What is it with that burning yellow ball of fire, anyway?

And here, is our brilliant new logo:

  1. “A Black spiral jumps out at you!”
    – Wait, with the new chronicles, isn’t it called a Different shades of Grey Spiral?
    ” . . . He attacks you”
    – By attack, do you mean he’s offering me a cup of Tea? I roll to see if he uses the proper utensils!
    “. . .”

  2. I have always advocated that The Cullen family aren’t actually Vampires, they’re just Fae fucking with people. So, I would fully support Them coming to Changeling.

  3. How about a coffee mug with the “new” Logo on one side and the old one on the other. or even better when you put hot liquid in it the logo changes from the old to the new

  4. As a part of spreading the Light. On the Beasts of War website there is an article about Beast the Primordial.
Perhaps it would be interesting for Onyx Path to make an article to clarify the two worlds, and that they are different from each other. For example, that Beast the Primordial is a truly new line unique for the Chronicles of Darkness, not a reprint/update.

    • Addendum: After re-reading the article I see two things that causes this line of thinking:
First) The name of the article – Release Beast: The Primordial Back Into World of Darkness
Second) the article itself – return of Beast: The Primordial.
      .
I think that the words ‘back’ and ‘return are/will be confusing
