First off, at the end of the week, and month, on October 31st, we have Halloween! Wooooo – that’s a Reason to Celebrate, for sure! (And it’s called out at the end of the blog today, too).
Then, and even more pertinent to this blog this week, we have the finale for the Curseborne Player’s Guide Kickstarter on Friday, the 31st, as well! Wow, as always, the month just flies by when we run one of these campaigns! Thanks everybody who backed, and please keep spreading the word! Our various AMAs this past month have been great for doing just that – and for giving folks a chance to banter back and forth and really dig into the Q&A thing. You can look those up on Reddit and RPG.net if you’re curious – there are a lot of topics covered, not only Curseborne and Exalted!
And as we approach the denouement of this crowdfunding campaign, here’s developer Eddy Webb, with a few last thoughts and excerpts for your enjoyment:
Final days of the Kickstarter for Curseborne Player’s Guide! Here’s hoping we can get to unlocking a new scenario stretch goal. Scenarios are great to not only help people get a better grip on what to do with Curseborne, but they can also help reveal different corners of the world.
Speaking of revealing things, one aspect of the Player’s Guide that we haven’t talked much about are the new rituals. There are fifteen of them, and I love the concept of street magic rituals. Here are a couple to whet your appetite!
Read the Entrails
Entanglement: 1
Cost: Bleed 2 curse dice, +1 additional curse die per two questions
Range/Scope: A single investigation
Requirements: A healthy, uninjured bird or mammal no smaller than a dove, which must be killed as part of the ritual. Roll with Enigmas or Esoterica.
Effect: The guts of the sacrifice provide information about the past or present and hints about the future. The lead caster receives a lead related to an investigation. For every additional curse die spent as part of the ritual, the lead caster (or those designated by him) receives two uses of the Question and Answer Trick related to this lead.Lucky Charm
Entanglement: 1, +1 Entanglement per two additional charms
Cost: Bleed 2 curse dice
Range/Scope: A single amulet or other handmade charm.
Requirements: A handmade amulet or bracelet with symbols of luck painted, drawn, stitched, or etched into it. Roll with Artistry or Medicine.
Effect: You imbue the charm with a modicum of luck. The person carrying the charm may reroll one action of his choice while he wears the charm, after which its magic dissipates. The owner may instead use up the charm’s magic to resolve the Unlucky status effect on himself. Charms given to another freely retain their properties, but those that are stolen, taken by force, or given under duress instead impose the Unlucky status effect on the recipient.
In another medium, The Gentleman Gamer (our own Matthew Dawkins) looks at one of the new CB PG Families your character can play in this vid examining the Plague Doctors (which we all know are one, if not the top, of Danielle’s favorite Families in the game. Now new in the Curseborne PG!

Fear not, true believers: even though the CB PG KS (I’m loving a three-part acronym!) is wrapping up on Friday, Curseborne itself continues to grow like the dark rose that it is!
On Wednesday we have the tenth in our 12-part monthly releases of Curseborne Tasty Bit antagonists: The Unwoven! But that’s not all!
I’ve just reviewed the text for the Making of Curseborne book, and I think that you’re going to really enjoy this look behind the scenes as we delve into how we “workshopped” Curseborne behind the scenes for many years (and continue to do so) in order to use our collaborative tools and the feedback from team members, creative peers, and then you, our audience, to continually evolve and fine-tune the game. We’re as open as we can be about what works using this process, and what didn’t, so we think it’s a pretty interesting look behind the webby curtain!
And, of course, backers have already had a chance to look at both the Backer PDF for the Curseborne core book, as well as the CB fiction anthology: Accursed Tales, and now we are feverishly inputting errata in order to get these projects out on PoD as well, and then live to the world! The various stories in the anthology really do provide the excellent spread of stories offering glimpses into discreet facets of the Curseborne world that we were aiming for, and as far as we can tell from your comments: our backers agree!
While projects are rolling, and continue to roll, along, we’re not easing back on providing online experiences that explore how the game plays so that you can check them out. Here’s Travis with some announcements about that very topic:
Tonight at 9 PM EDT the final episode of the Dungeon Scrawlers Curseborne actual play will air! The first episode was broadcast last Monday at theDungeon Scrawlers Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/dungeonscrawlers) and went up on our YouTube channel last Thursday.
After tonight’s broadcast, we’ll be uploading the episode to YouTube tomorrow to give everyone who missed the broadcast a chance to check it out before the end of the Curseborne Player’s Guide Kickstarter! Watch Episode 1 at https://youtu.be/4MAfsoL1jmI?si=rxY1iDezJA4J9QZd

Dixie Is Floored
Lots of punning was the result of an innocent word swap, with many of our Monday Meeting group chipping in bad puns on floor, flooring, being floored…you get the idea. Also, thanks to Dixie for getting out the MMN blog last week – great job, Dixie! Then, we also had a meeting and covered a bunch of these topics:
DriveThru is still running their Halloween sales, just to stick with the theme, so please do check over there for great discounts on our scarier projects, including our WoD20 and CofD ones!
Travis has a few thoughts about Twitch to share with you:
I wanted to bring two new Twitch shows to your attention! Last week, we had session zero of Scarred Lands: Hammer and Blood run by Alain Giorla. This actual play is set on the continent of Termana using the Savage Worlds system in support of the Scarred Lands Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds Kickstarter! The next episode will air on November 7th at 2PM EDT on the Onyx Path Twitch channel!
In mid-November Storyguide and author Tom Murr will be launching a new show on the Onyx Path Twitch entitled Guiding the Path. This show will focus on different pieces and bits of Storypath Ultra games and how to utilize them at the table including advice for new Storyguides on using Storypath Ultra! Keep an eye out for this new show!
We are always looking for new content for the Twitch channel including actual plays, lore deep dives, character creation demos, and more! If you are interested in creating content with us (or creating content using our games in your spaces) please visit our Creator Interest Form at https://forms.gle/aqTBztswhRQLMADd9 and tell us all about your ideas!
Plus, while we’re working on the last week of our Curseborne Player’s Guide Kickstarter, Travis is also running this:
Scarred Lands Player’s Guide on Kickstarter
The Scarred Lands Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds Kickstarter is underway! We funded in just under 4 hours and have currently unlocked 2 Stretch Goals! Thanks to our backers we will be making Edge and Power Cards detailing new items added to the system as well as an Adventure PDF converting several 5e adventures to Savage Worlds! As of this writing we’re less than $200 from unlocking the next Stretch Goal ensuring a larger batch of adventures will be converted! We’ve got a little over two weeks left in the campaign and a whole slew of new ancestries, Edges, Setting Rules, and more to show off! If you’ve already supported the campaign, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! If you haven’t yet done so, please head over to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oando/scarred-lands-players-guide-for-savage-worlds and give it a look! We’ve got a whole lot more in store for the back half of the campaign including more backer-only previews, public facing teasers, and several Stretch Goals waiting to be announced and unlocked!
I’ve also got several appearances scheduled this week to spread the word about the campaign including an AMA at r/savageworlds Wednesday, Oct 29th at Noon EDT and an appearance on the BAMF Podcast at https://www.youtube.com/@BAMFPodcast/ on Saturday, November 1st at 10 PM EDT!
Also, about that:
Our friends at Dork Tales (https://www.twitch.tv/dorktales) are hosting Scarred Lands: Cities in Dust, an actual play set on the desert wasteland continent of Asherak. This game is running to promote the Scarred Lands Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds Kickstarter and will return to the Dork Tales Twitch on Thursday October 30th at 1 PM EDT! See Episode 1 of this Actual Play on the Dork Tales YouTube at https://youtu.be/BjGQ0lAFtF8?si=dvVpz73g3KfcVLMB

Now that I’m back, ol’ Ron Thompson will be looking at what book to lay out next, and he and Mirthful Mike will be reviewing just how close Curseborne and Branch Riders (to name two core books that have been jostling each other for priority since we started their crowdfunding campaigns) are to going on sale to the public. We’ll also be reaching out to a couple of printers to see how things like pricing and availability have changed since last year in the hopes that we have a window of opportunity to get a few projects traditionally printed.
It still isn’t pretty out there, but we’re seeing now some clear, uh, paths towards catching up on trad printing. Thanks for your patience during this unprecedented time, and more news when I have it as we keep making all our:
Many Worlds, One Path!
Blurbs!
Crowdfunding!
Curseborne Player’s Guide!

Just in time for Halloween, here’s this month’s spooky Curseborne Tasty Bit: the Unwoven! PDF on DTRPG this Weds!
On Sale Last Week!

Two novellas set in the Trinity Continuum: Æon universe:
Dawn: ISRA assigns Jay and her team to Far Nyumba for what should be an easy job aiding a remote research settlement with their irrigation systems. Shortly before their arrival on the distant moon, a mysterious artifact falls from the sky. The aliens who come to claim it give the townspeople of Upepo an ultimatum: clear out before the sun and the planet Mgitu rise, or there’s going to be trouble. Cut off from the moon’s other cities and interstellar aid, Jay and her team are the little town’s first — and only — line of defense.
Meridian: A moment of brilliant, awful light. A landscape, scoured and remade. An entire nation, simply gone. La Blessure is the graveyard of millions, a wasteland of quantum flux and devastation born from the impact of the Esperanza space station. Yet even a murdered land’s secrets cannot rest easy, and now the promise of stolen power lures a United Republic expedition into the desolation. Fallen heroes thrash in the grip of posthuman madness. Dueling oracles fight an invisible war of shifting possibilities. A broken woman dies again and again. And beneath the harsh, uncaring light of the wasteland sun, something far crueler still prepares to ignite the flame of a new nightmare.
Note: This is the Advance PDF version. We’ll be collecting errata notes and feedback before preparing the final eBook and Print versions of the book. Anyone who gets this Advance PDF will automatically get the final eBook added to their DriveThruFiction library. Plus they will have an option to get the Print version at a discount. The discount will take into account the eBook price and match the final Print + eBook combo price. You must have your Account set to receive notifications from Onyx Path Publishing as that is the only way the discount will be delivered.

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Like I mentioned up above, this Friday is October 31st, which is Halloween! Let’s all celebrate by carving a turnip! No really, here’s this from the internets: In Ireland, Scotland, and Northern England the turnip has traditionally been carved during Halloween, but immigrants to North America used the native pumpkin, which is both much softer and much larger, making it easier to carve than a turnip. The American tradition of carving pumpkins is recorded in 1837 and was originally associated with harvest time in general, not becoming specifically associated with Halloween until the mid-to-late 19th century.
