V20 Dark Ages: Daimonion

BaaliBeen down periscope a bit. I’m getting art notes in, changing the orders of things, and filling out some word count I didn’t know we’d have.

In the mean time, I wanted to show off our version of Daimonion, the signature Baali Discipline. Our own Neall Raemonn Price did levels 1-5, and the Hell Born Investiture six dot power. He gave us all three Salubri bloodlines, the Baali, and a few other choice elements. I did the rest. Most are inspired by past powers, at least thematically if not in effect.

Here’s Daimonion!

We’re really late in the process, so we’ll listen to commentary, but don’t expect complex replies. Later on, we’ll have a chance for a minor tweak here or there, fussing with typos, et cetera, but this is pretty close to final product, so keep that in mind.

so if i understand correctly the idea is that the masters of the baali are in fact dtd demons

that’s ok with me i just hope(having read a bit of rite of blood infernalism) it’s not overdone though

not every demon should be retconned in that way in my opinion

Could Hell-born Investiture be used to give someone else a investiture? Thus allowing a Baali to masquerade as a ‘demon’ and bestow gifts upon ‘loyal’ followers & lead to the creation of a blood cult?

It’s not assumed that it would. But at my table? I’d allow it.

Like the whole thing, if the book clears a few Baalimysteries I wouldn’t be dissapointed.
Looks far more sinister, dark and evil by now. Love that Plague sickness, already gettin nice plotideas!

I think we’re going to be seeing some interesting bits on the Baali. I’m not pulling the curtain back all at once with V20 Dark Ages. But we have such sights to show you.

The thing Re-Embraces always had similar (though never mentioned) a higher power Daimonion. This will be removed, will be elsewhere or remain a mystery?

can daimoinon 6 remove a clan curse?

also with unholy communion i assume a vampire can no longer wassail right?
what about the system that says “no more dice can be rolled for a virtue than the character has road rating?

While mostly rather nice, good to have a few examples outside of the fire-immunity thing, I am rather disappointed with the level 9 power, it got beaten with a nerf bat so hard that it ain’t even funny. It’s a plot device power, not something any player will use and it lasts for a few turns at most? This is the power that has united the Cainite Clans twice in history to fight as one and stop at any cost? Using powers that will level up cities anyway. What I am saying that the attacking Cainites did probably more lasting harm in interrupting the powers usage than the power it self is likely able to do. All in all rather anti-climatic.

Also no mention of the Children, always a cause for disappointment when talking about the Baali, and it seems that you are taking it a bit towards the rather dull directions of DtF/DD Earthbound being the Baali Masters instead of the Neverborn that were originally implied to be the masters.

On the positive side I do like the opening of the Daimoinon description which at the least retains some respect for the Children and CB:Baali by noting out how they are currently keeping the masters asleep, though I am not sure if anyone not familiar with the CB will notice it or read it quite that way.

Still correct the final level of the Discipline and tone done on the Lords of Hell references and leave the Masters identity either a bit more obscured or make some references to the Children and it would be excellent work indeed.

Also regarding the Baali Re-Embrace, I do hope it won t be some new high-level power but something much more accessible to the Baali as a whole since back at the old days it was just something they were able to do, there never was any implication that only members of a certain Generation would be able to do so.
