Blood Sorcery: Sacraments & Blasphemies

Bottom line at the top: Blood Sorcery: Sacraments & Blasphemies  for Vampire: The Requiem is out.

You know that storefront between the massage parlor and the Gamestop? The one called something like New Light Nondenominational Church? With the sign that says “ALL WELCOME!” You ever wonder why, if all are welcome, they’ve got the windows blacked out?

It’s ’cause the folks inside don’t really want to see the light. They’ve got a lot to do, and they need to get it done in the dark. There are fluids to be spilled, lines to be drawn, and holy hell to be unleashed.

That’s sorcery. You can be all fancy and secretive about it or tear off your clothes and dance under the moon, but like everything else in the life, it comes down to blood and power.

And that power’s what we’re giving you.

Vampire‘s core sorcery system isn’t too different from the spell lists you find in other games. Elegant outfits carefully coordinated by designers. Sacraments & Blasphemies is something different. It’s more than letting you make your own outfits. It’s tearing the clothes off and letting you play with body paint and wild tattoos. The new theme-based rituals let you design your own spells, much as in Mage. No coincidence we got superstar Mage writer Dave Brookshaw to write that part.

There’s more to it, though. Not everybody goes to church, even somewhere as casual as a storefront chapel. And some folks take high-priced pieces of clothing, take scissors and safety pins to them, make them into something hard-edged and raw. Something that belongs to the street instead of the runway. Those are Threnodies, a new kind of ritual that combines tough sacrifices with the Disciplines of the Kindred to give a little mojo to the vampire on the street, whether he’d call himself a sorcerer or not.

So that’s the power we’re giving you. Time for the catch, right? Catch is, you’re not alone. Catch is, there are other sorcerers out there, from your own deranged Kindred to the heart-eating Sons of Phobos. And what about the bizarre not-people called the Empty Liars? Who are they? Why are they watching you?

That’s what we’re giving you. The freedom to get down and dirty with your own crimson charms, and new rivals and enemies to fear. That’s Sacraments & Blasphemies.

  1. Just purchased the book; it’s fantastic. Does improvised magic without stepping on Mage’s toe, yet uses some of the best aspects of it. Really cool, toolboxy stuff. Russell and the writing team get all the kudos imaginable.

  2. Purchased pdf + POD (2). Excellent book. Really has done alot to help me expand blood sorcery in my Requiem games. Giving me all kinds of ST & player ideas. Would have liked this as hardcover option, but overall Im very, very happy with the art, contents and page count.
