Alchemical Magic! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Certainly, Alchemicals wasn’t lead to begin with, but gold it has become!

We funded the Deluxe Exalted Alchemicals: Forged By The Machine God on BackerKit in less than a half-hour, and then not even a week in, we’re passing 300% funded and over 1200 backers! Go team Autocthonia!

Please note that I said: BACKERKIT, in case you missed that between Monday and Thursday last week we locked in on BackerKit to run the crowdfunding campaign for Alchemicals! Like we’ve said before, sometimes our schedule requires us to bop between venues, and this was one of those times. Sorry if you went over to Kickstarter on Thursday, but we did try and get the word out as soon as we knew!

Things sure are looking good for the campaign as it is, so hopefully not a lot of you were misled. If so, that’s my fault – sorry about that.

In fact, we’re doing great on achieving Stretch Goals too, with most of them (six, in fact) being about building up the Alchemicals Companion. Here are the topics backers have added so far!

ALCHEMICALS COMPANION:

The Lost City of Tekun: The disappearance of the metropolis Tekun is a mystery to the Eight Nations— but now, the truth is revealed.

The Forge of Legends: Additional Storyteller advice and plot hooks for Alchemical campaigns, whether in Autochthonia or Creation.

Beyond the Eight Nations: An expansion of Autochthonia’s reaches and those who dwell within: tunnel folk societies, Alchemical outcasts, and gruesome horrors born of the Blight.

God-Machinery of Exalted Power: A panoply of Alchemical Charms and submodule upgrades, as well as Light-Sharpening Blade style, a martial art that makes use of beamklaves.

The Ever-Spreading Blight: Quick Character traits for Apostates, those Alchemicals corrupted by Autochthon’s Blight, and the lesser gremlins that stalk the Realm of Brass and Shadows.

Industrial Assembly of the Chosen: Quick Character traits for Alchemical heroes from across the Eight Nations — and Creation.

Again, we’re not even a week in to this campaign, so who knows how many more sections will be added?

Today, we released the first of the Charm sections from the text to backers – which are always favorites! We’re releasing the text sections out of actual, “in the book” sequence in order to get those Charm sections out there, but to let other parts of the book get out there, too.

For some more insight into the creation of Alchemicals, you can listen to last Friday’s Onyx Pathcast where the Pathcast crew talk with a bunch of folks who worked on the book. I’m told there’s even a surprise at the end! This week, Danielle, Matthew, and Dixie also dive into the book, with D & D taking opposing positions on how things are pronounced. All in good fun, of course!

At Least A Doorknob

This was stated by Matthew in our Monday Meeting today in response to his new Discord graphic. (It’s Josie, trapped in a wooden doorknob – if you recognize that reference).

We still have a sale going at IPR for 75% off of Dark Eras stuff for CofD, and coming up next week at some point there’ll be a Black Friday sale at DTRPG and assorted sites!

“It won’t be nothing but Curseborne in the future, but my goodness, there’s a lot right now!”

OK, that was a line Matthew dropped in the Media section last week, and it has apparently caused a few people to jump to the conclusion that we’re ONLY going to be creating Curseborne games in the immediate future.

No, no, no – a thousand times: NO.

Matthew was specifically talking about our selection of videos in the Media section, and was saying that for a while it has only been CB vids, but that that situation will start to return to normal and feature other video topics. Nothing about our release schedule or ultimate business plans!

We have many game lines, and those are at various stages of their “lives”. We’ve just started Curseborne, we’re building up the Earthbane games, but haven’t put any out on DTRPG or in stores yet. Pugmire‘s “second edition” is almost out as a PDF/PoD on DTRPG, but we’ve already released a couple of projects for it, and already ran another KS for the second edition of a Mau book.

We are working on some lines with the last books our licenses allow us to put out, for now, and we’ve let others sit for a bit as we decide on what to do next, but that was happening regardless of our Curseborne efforts. CB fills in our long diminishing horror game line offerings, which we don’t have a say on continuing, it does not kill any lines.

Just so nobody is out there convinced that their fave was mugged by Curseborne in a dark alley!

I can understand it though, there are a lot of dark alleys within our:

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Random stuff to celebrate any and all of about today: In 326: the old St. Peter’s Basilica is consecrated by Pope Sylvester I. Then, 1300 years later, in 1626: the new St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome is consecrated. In 1928, it’s the release of the animated short Steamboat Willie, the first fully synchronized sound cartoon. In 1961, United States President John F. Kennedy sends 18,000 military advisors to South Vietnam. That’s going to work out well. In 1985 – the first comic of Calvin and Hobbes is published in ten newspapers. Yay! In 1953, it’s the birthday of Alan Moore, English author, magician, and curmudgeon. Changed the face of comic books writing such projects as Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Swamp Thing, Batman: The Killing Joke, and From Hell. The books really are better than the movies, but don’t tell Alan, he’ll get a swelled head.
