Approved In Record Time! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Maybe we just nailed the info in the KS. Maybe the project is so cool that those who needed to approve it were just in awe and gave their OK.

Pretty sure we just got lucky, but this time our Kickstarter page for the Deluxe W20 The Apocalyptic Record was approved way earlier than we expected!

Which is great, y’know. We are not complaining!

Hundred Devils Night Parade art by Gong Studios

Like I previewed in glorious detail last week, W20 Apocalyptic Record is going to be a six part book, with five chapters that describe the points of view of five different characters – keyed to their Auspice – and a sixth that delves deep into the metaplot and goes through all the years of Werewolf: The Apocalypse storylines.

Mirthful Mike and I have been firing Deluxe cover visuals back and forth at each other for weeks, and we think you’re really going to love how this will look. It’s a fitting companion to the Deluxe W20 itself (although not the Heavy Metal Edition from the original KS – that monster would probably be prohibitive to create these days!)

Some have called this book a fitting capstone to the W20 line, and I can’t argue with that description. Even though, as this is a Kickstarter campaign, you know we’ll have a book or two that is created by achieving Stretch Goals!

Below you’ll find the link for the Deluxe W20 Apocalyptic Record Pre-Kickstarter sign-up page, and I wholeheartedly suggest you click on over to that page and sign up. We get so many folks with every KS who forgot or got busy just as their favorite KS went live – but if you sign up you get an immediate notification straight from Kickstarter when it goes live on Tuesday, September the 21st!

In our meeting today, we discussed just how to write our legal text. You know, that block of words on the Credits page that usually starts with a Circle-C copyright notice. Yep, another necessary yet not really fun part of getting our books out to you.

In this case, we needed to review what was there because it wasn’t just Onyx Path‘s declaration of ownership, or even Paradox‘s for one of their games, it was us, and a different licensor, and an SRD notice all combined.

But we got it all worked out.

DTRPG seems to be going gangbusters on sales: they are just now finishing up with a PDF sale focused on the Historical keyword that contains a bunch of our projects, and will be starting on Thursday a “Fae Sale” which will contain great discounts on our Changeling: The Dreaming 20th and Changeling: The Lost 2e PDFs!

We reviewed our GenCon panels and games that we’ll be running virtually during Gen Con itself this weekend. Eddy is running an Trinity Continuum: Anima Playtest game on Friday the 17th at 1pm EDT, and Matthew is running a They Came From Beyond the Grave! introductory game on Saturday the 18th at 4pm EDT.

Our panels will be a Storypath System one on Friday the 17th at 11am EDT, and the classic What’s Up With the Onyx Path? panel on Saturday the 18th at 11am EDT, as well. We expect that Eddy, Dixie, Matthew, and I will attend, with perhaps an added person or two. So you know they’ll be fun!

You can ask us questions in the comments here that I’ll read during the panels, and also ask questions during the panels via chat. It’s a great chance to get your questions and concerns answered directly by the very folks that call the shots – and if we don’t know the answer we’ll dig up somebody that does!

In my day, you had to shlep yourself down to the convention and wherever they were holding the panels – often with all kinds of ambient noise interfering with the presentation and Q&A, and then come up to the mike and ask the panel – who were often glaring down at you – your question. That was kind of an intense thing. But for these panels, you can write a question in the comfort of your own home and never need see the scowls of the panelists!

And speaking of the old days at Gen Con, how about some memories in photo form?

On Sale This Week!

The sands of time waft away to reveal a great tome hidden beneath: Mummy: The Curse 2e passes through the veils of time to confront us in PDF and PoD versions on DTRPG this Wednesday!

I am a mummy. I am Arisen. I have awoken to serve, but as a god among mortals, I will be worshiped. I will live again. My memory shall return, my power shall wane, and at the end of the tale, I will know all.

I feel hungry mouths approaching my shattered tomb. The time for contemplation is over. I may know my name tomorrow, but before then I will feel the spatter of blood on my skin and the splitting of flesh and bone between my fingers.

Mummy: The Curse includes:

  • Everything you need to run or play Mummy: The Curse, a game of timeless horror and multiple eras of mystery.
  • A deep setting of Iremite history and society, delving into the world of the Arisen and other immortals, sorcerers, and cultists.
  • Powers ranging from the cosmic to the subtle, all at the beck and call of this game’s protagonists.
  • A plethora of horrifying foes, from Blood Bathers to Body Thieves, Lifeless Shuankhsen to chimerical Amkhata, and many more.
  • Comprehensive storytelling advice to make Mummy accessible and enthralling to everyone from their first session.

Conventions!

Because dates for physical conventions are subject to change due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we don’t yet have a list of upcoming physical conventions. Instead, keep an eye out here for more virtual conventions we’re going to be involved with!

    • Wow, you’ve been missing those for decades! Print media as a whole has taken some hits and had to adapt, but physical periodicals and newspapers have really had challenges as our communication needs and interests have shifted to our devices. I actually had a plan for a redo of WW Mag that was part of a larger fan community plan that included lots of online content, but I submitted that mere days before CCP made it clear that they wanted White Wolf to go more electronic than we were. Might have been cool, but it didn’t happen.

I do so hope I am fast enough to snag a sweet sweet limited pledge level. Targetting the “be included in meeting/emails” one if it’s an options.

    • WOOOOO to you, too!

Every KS works out the possibilities of different tiers with the dev crew involved. Their preferences count for a lot, and then we also have to look at the project: will there be opportunities for art modeling or consulting devs based on how many books and when they need to be worked on?

      • Makes complete sense to me! 😀

I’m just enthousiastic. I understand I may not have my heart’s desire and if so then, I’m sure there still going to be another super cool tier to my licking. Lookong forward to find out.

(But I appreciate you tempering my expectations. Whatever happens we’re getting a cool book that’s the important part)

  3. A quick thank you for putting the time zone in on the GenCon things (means I know they are in the middle of the night for me), makes working out when they are a lot easer.
