Before GenCon and Bone Saws

Meeting Notes

  • Rich asks me how my pre-op stuff went. Nothing I didn’t expect — I’ll be going under the knife on the 27th, and I’ll be recovering for about a week.Β But I can still drink at GenCon, so that’s good.
  • My surgery means that I’ll be handing the Monday Meeting blog off to Rich starting on the 27th.
  • Rich’s vacation was nice — lots of day trips over the week.
  • Most of the meeting was us going over the GenCon presentations. One of them is massive, and neither of us can figure out why.
  • The big announcement we’ve been mentioning will be at GenCon, and there will be follow up information next week.
  • Review PDFs for Blood Sorcery and Children of the RevolutionΒ will be coming in before GenCon.
  • Chaney is laying out Left-Handed Path for Awakening, and art directing NWO Ascension book.
  • Tried to remember the alternative title for Silent Knife. Turns out it was “All We Know of Hell.

Today’s Reason to Drink: I don’t know about y’all, but GenCon is the reason why I’m drinking.

  1. Exciting to hear NWO is being art directed now! I’m surprised though. From some previous comments in interviews with you and/or Rich, it sounded like the creation of the Convention books was going to be dependent on Kickstarter funding. Did the plan change, or did I just misunderstand.

I have to admitt, Kickstarting the creation of more niche cWoD books is a tantalizing proposition. I would *love* to see a potential path for Changeling: The Dreaming’s Book of Glamour to become a reality!

    • As far as I understood it, only limited editions will come through Kickstarter. Projects that are announced are coming out in PDF/PoD regardless of Kickstarter participation.

      • Actually, and sorry to contradict you Eddy, it is just a question of bandwidth. Because of both the multiple moving parts in Kickstarters and the behind the scenes stuff here, the W20 and Mummy and Hunters Hunted 2 KSs have all fallen later and kind of on top of each other. I really didn’t see a way to run the NWO KS at the same time (as this is when we planned to do it). So in a leap of faith we’re going with the first Convention Book as a PDF/PoD book and seeing how many folks support that.

    • The question to me with new Ascension books is “Will they be created with M20 taken into consideration, or are they being developed under the same rules as Mage: Revised?” But maybe that’s been answered somewhere else. πŸ™‚

        • I figure that the official line is going to be “We haven’t begun working on M20” anyways. *chuckles* Still, I’m not sure what sort of mechanical changes there would be that would be different between a M:Revised and M20 for the NWO book. Then again, if there’s some inkling of changes that want to be made, maybe only folks REALLY familiar with the mechanics and such would even notice those leanings if they were even there? This is all just “out-loud” over-thinking anyways. ^.^

  2. White Wolf staff not drinking at Gen Con is like Wold of Darkness without d10s. It can happen, but it won’t be the same. πŸ˜‰ Have a safe trip here. πŸ™‚ ((Yeah, I’m here already. Already walked the halls. Too bad the AC won’t be on in the Exhibitor Hall until Thursday Morning, but thankfully it shouldn’t be 105 either!))

WHICH of your events will have the “SUPER AWESOME ANNOUNCEMENT”? SEM1235117 “What’s up with White Wolf?”, or SEM1235118 “What is the Onyx Path?”?

And is that also the “massive” presentation?… massive as in “size/detail”, or in that “this is going to blow folks’ minds!” way?

  3. I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but, when is V20 Companion going to be available as PoD? I’ve checked DriveThrough and it’s not there, nor in the Schedule above. Thanks for the info.

And of course, Mr. Webb, I hope the surgery and post-op go well, and wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Warm regards from Spain, that country.

  4. So very much there with the Convention Books it isn’t funny. I’m really pleased that you guys decided to celebrate my new Ascension chronicle (Pandora’s XBox) with an announcement to release new books for that game. I mean, truly, its an honour but not unexpected πŸ˜›

M20 definitely needs to happen, but I couldn’t justify getting W20, nor any Masquerade products even to support the case for its publication. I’ll pick up Left-handed Paths, despite not running that system, I reckon but its got to be Ascension in general for me…
