Yes! 2025 is coming faster than any of us can believe! When we get there in just a few weeks, we’ll finish up our 13th year of being Onyx Path, and move into year 14! Truly unbelievable for all of us here in Onyx Path Central!
So much fun for so long!
New crowdfunding campaigns, new gamelines, and monthly Curseborne Tasty Bits are just a few of the things we are planning for ’25. (And speaking of Curseborne, a moth whispered a rumor to me that our devs have portioned out between them all the messages you all left during the KS and are actively reviewing and tweaking as we speak!)
But, we still have things popping right now, and it’d be a shame to dwell on the great projects coming in ’25 while we’re still making amazing things for right NOW!
For example, last week we finished up the BackerKit crowdfunding campaign for Exalted Alchemicals! It was strong to begin with, but then our intrepid backers got even more involved and started a BackerTrain that extended the length of the campaign by 16 minutes and achieved our final Stretch Goal of the campaign!
Thanks to everybody who backed and especially you wacky folks that got everybody excited enough to gain those extra minutes!
Here’s something that’s happening right now AND is Xmas related: Realms of Pugmire was listed in this Forbes article as one of the gifts for family friendly TTRPG gifting for the holidays:
Thanks to Rob Wieland for including Realms in his article!
Realms of Pugmire released on DTRPG last week, and we’ve added a bundle offer that adds Threats and Curs – so you can get the main book and its monster manual, er, creature collection together!
Meanwhile, Matthew is producing more Gentleman Gamer videos about Curseborne – which are a great way to get more info about our exciting new horror game and particularly the player character options. Although, he does let slip more info than just the Family he is talking about…
They’re here, on The Gentleman Gamer’s YouTube channel, with the Gentleman’s Guide to the Accursed and specifically his guide to the Shade family of the Dead! Check out this official lore drop about the guilt ridden judges here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFpa2Z9JrfI
And Matthew has also started a thread on RPGnet about Exalted and what folks love about it. What makes somebody an Exalted fan – what is the special ingredient? While Matthew is asking this in order to get in the right mindset to run an Exalted, maybe even an Alchemicals, game for his Patreon patrons, over here we’re just enjoying hearing folks gush about one of our gamelines!
(And if you’re not into posting on RPGnet, please feel free to give your thoughts on what makes Exalted great for you here in the Comments below, or on our social media. Or Scion, or the Trinity Continuum, or really any of our games!)
We really never can get enough of those positive vibes, folks!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Today is the birthday of Wassily Kandinsky, Russian-French painter and theorist in 1866. I mention him not only because he was an amazing abstract artist, but because “he expressed the communion between artist and viewer as being available to both the senses and the mind (synesthesia). Hearing tones and chords as he painted, Kandinsky theorized that (for example), yellow is the color of middle C on a brassy trumpet; black is the color of closure, and the end of things; and that combinations of colors produce vibrational frequencies, akin to chords played on a piano”. His synesthesia being something that I think a bunch of our community can relate to!
Is the art with the wolf at the very top for Curseborne?
Yes it is! That’s one of the five tarot cards representing the Lineages with art by Priscilla Kim.
Exalted is incredibly special to me for a lot of reasons.
My TTRPG experiences in the late 90’s had been a series of joining groups right before or right during their implosion throughout high school and an online Play by Post V:TM reskinned as Highlander. When I started college, I stepped away from the hobby and kind of thought my gaming days were done.
Then Exalted came out. First Edition Exalted lured me back to the hobby because of its incredibly expansive setting, the idea that my preferred fantasy game tropes could live in the Hundred Kingdoms alongside someone else’s Eastern inspired fantasy tropes in the Realm or someone’s Swashbuckling adventure tropes in the Western Isles was and remains INCREDIBLY appealing. The depth and breadth of the setting allows for such incredibly freedom as both a player and as a storyteller.
Today my group is running Exalted Essence, wrapping up a chapter of our Chronicle that has focused on Solars atoning for some rather egregious sins of their former incarnations at the time of the Usurpation and getting ready to step into the next chapter which focuses on Lunars in the north discovering an ancient mystery long buried beneath the Wasting Tundra. The fact that Exalted can handle both tones effortlessly keeps me coming back over and over.
I ran a variety of fantasy games for many years until discovering WoD in the 90s, which set my role-playing path for many more years to come. I was fortunate enough to be involved in playtesting during the oughts, and Exalted was one of the games provided to our group for review. I took to it immediately and ran a game on release that lasted almost 8 years. I’m now in the 9th year of my third chronicle and am still finding ways to keep even my experienced players guessing. The vast and colorful world gives me ample room to tell an endless variety of stories and limitless ways for my players to do cool things — they keep me guessing, too. I ultimately hope to introduce other friends to the gameline, as it’s full of stories worth sharing.
