Justin rewrote the entire Vampire setting chapter, because he’s awesome like that. Here are his comments on the chapter when he sent it to me:
There’s definitely a less-is-more approach here. I touch all the concepts, but in a way that leaves lots of room for player exploration. I’ve gone back to the second and even first edition material to present more of an impressionistic “feel” of Vampire rather than the exhaustive compilation approach of all-things-ever that we stacked into the Revised edition. This is intentional — we’re basically enumerating bullet points of the cool stuff Vampire offered over the years as an encouragement to get back in and mess around with it, as opposed to building a giant pile of details that end up being a wall forbidding entry.
So here it is, warts and all — I see that this will need some work, but Justin and I both agreed that this is a good chapter for open development, so I’d rather collect the commentary and revise with all that in mind. I expect this will get a lot of commentary, but the two key points I really need to know:
- What things are absolutely essential to a Vampire setting chapter that are missing from this?
- What things are covered that are probably overkill for the “less is more” approach?
As always, here’s the link to the chapter.
