Advocate to the Masses

Of everyone in the Ascension War — Traditionalists, Nephandi, and even other Technocrats — no one gets humanity quite like the Syndicate. The Convention of Cash doesn’t try to change people, and it doesn’t have the hubris of believing it should make the Masses “better” as its fellow Conventions do. No, the Syndicate knows that the status quo keeps the world safe… and keeps them in the penthouse. The Syndicate distributes money and Primal Energy through the Technocratic Union, and that gives it power over the Union’s policies. But that might not be enough to prevent the New World Order and others from crippling the Masses worse than the Traditions ever could.

A World Occupied

Between the lows — hypereconomics backlash and market crashes — and the highs — crowdfunding and the reputation economy — this is an interesting time to be in the Syndicate. Convention Book: Syndicate updates Mage: the Ascension with fresh 21st century ideas of the Convention everyone loves to despise, in ways that will change how you see them.

  1. I would pay good money for an Iteration X 2013 sourcebook if it was written by the new Convention Book team.

Then again, I think I would pay good money for any Technomancer sourcebook written by the new Convention Book team.

  2. D’accord. We need a Iteration X book adapted to 21st reality. So much things happened between 2001 and 2013.

  3. Even within the concept of Nanotechnology, both in real materials science and in science fiction there have been really fascinating new ideas. There are metamaterials which engineers believe can eventually render objects invisible in the visible spectrum. There’s the concept of programmable matter – the competing RPG Numenera’s previews seem to have really amazing science fiction ideas for nanotechnology.

The Macrotechnicians can find new inventions in Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM.

The Statisticians can find new technologies in today’s Big Data and Visual Analytics. You can also expand them into Artificial Intelligence developers. Enlightened Expert Artificial Intelligences with actual voice interfaces accessible via smartphones – anywhere.

Those are just tips of the icebergs. Iteration X should be the showcase Convention for the Technocracy. It needs to be bleeding-edge COOL.

Iteration X needs a new Convention Book because both real science and engineering and science fiction itself have superseded the 2001 Iteration X convention book.

  4. Another awesome technology in development that’s certainly up the alley of ITERATION X: Terahertz active scanning technology that will be able to create an x-ray vision experience – seeing through walls, smoke, and an inch into flesh, clothing.

There needs to be a huge variety of technologies ITERATION X is seen using.
