Now available from DriveThruRPG in print-on-demand: Ghouls & Revenants!
By Blood It Is Done
Bound by their masters’ blood, ghouls serve the undead and fight their battles in the shadows. Dragged, seduced, or forced into the night, ghouls live at the whims of their masters–for better or for worse.
By Blood It Is Made Anew
Revenants are twisted and unique. They have vampiric powers and extended life, as well as a form of the Beast all their own. Crafted by blending ghouls with dark magic, Revenants have become something else altogether.
Ghouls & Revenants includes:
- Expanded and revised character creation for ghoul and revenant player-characters
- Clan and Sect write-ups for ghouls who serve them
- New revenant families including the Rossellini, Kairouan Brotherhood, and more.
- New rules for ghouls and revenants including new Merits & Flaws, Backgrounds, Discipline Packages, etc.
- A Storyteller chapter for advice on running ghoul-or-revenant focused chronicles.
- …and more!
Oh, that’s cool. So, eh… What happened to Curse of the Blue Nile?
I was curious about that as well. The Monday Morning Meeting Notes listed Blue Nile as the Wednesday release. I mean having Ghouls come out is awesome, but are we going to see Blue Nile this week as well?
If you go back and look at the Monday Meeting notes, Rich updated them. There was an issue with Blue Nile, so we put G&R up this week instead.
Oh ok. Cool. Thanks, I missed that in the notes.
Okay, I’ll admit that I’m a little miffed that so few (read: none) of the pages of errata that I submitted were addressed in the ‘final download’ version of V20 Ghouls and Revenants.
…But I’m MORE upset that the process was presented and then ignored. Was it in the hopes of quick turnaround? Was it an issue with scheduling? I dunno – and I don’t really care that much – what caused it. The fact that this book went to press with so many errors in style (you DO still have a published style guide, you know) and language (‘forebearer’ does not mean the same as ‘forebear’ as but one example) distresses me as a fan of the gameline. I count myself as a fan over any pretensions of pedantic aspersions…
Please don’t take this as a personal attack on ANYONE at Onyx Path, but rather take it as my knowing that you can do better.
It is up to the developers to use any, all, or none, of the errata compiled. Nothing on the production side was rushed, as going on sale is determined by whether I have OK’d the PoD samples, which are only generated after the errata changes are approved by the Dev and we create the finished PDF and the PoD files.
I wet through your suggestions line-by-line and did indeed make some changes based on them, so to claim “(read: none)” is kind of insulting.
Obviously I didn’t make every change you suggested and we’re going to disagree on several of them. However, I did appreciate and review every single one of them.
