Once More Unto the Arch, Good Friends! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Yep! We’ve got to get up there and push across to the final week of our Buried Treasures double-book crowdfunding campaign for The World Below – only a few days and we’ll be at the one week to go mark!

Phew, it sure has gone by fast!

Back now and get the text for the first book, The Delver’s Guide, and also receive the ongoing backer drops for the second book’s text – Secrets of Kalm and Kaos! And remember, if you pledge now, you can always modify your pledge in the after-campaign page on BackerKit! Plus, this campaign is not going to be affected by any tariffs!

Here’s creator and dev Matthew Dawkins with more details about both projects and the interest that folks have been sharing with us:

Hi all, it’s Matthew here again to talk about the parts of Buried Treasures that have really got people excited so far!

Over on the Onyx Path Discord, people have really been into the new Callings (the Wilder, Violet, Tableaux, and Gem Master, and especially the Soulweaver – it turns out people really like necromancers), the new detail and story hooks explaining the different wards and beyonds in The World Below (voidward, seaward, brinkward, the Abyss, the Well, etc.), and the connections between The World Below and Monster Kingdoms you can find scattered throughout the Delver’s Guide and Secrets of Kalm and Kaos. Meanwhile, on our Reddit AMA last week we had a lot of questions about the settlements of The World Below (Crystal City, Telver’s Hearth, and Oracaster appear to be favourites), the various kinds of adventure (cosy, exploratory, and survival), and its connections to other Earthbane games. A lot of people seem to want to know how each game in the cycle connects to another!

On YouTube, many of the comments have concerned navigation in the World Below, the kinds of characters you can play (how they relate to D&D classes), and how the World Below differs from the Underdark. I’ve fielded a lot of questions about whether the drow and mind flayers exist in The World Below, to which I answer “yes, but with subtle, and sometimes extreme variants.” The klo’tha definitely have eldritch similarities to the illithid, but which characters do you link to the dark elves?

In short, it’s been absolutely fantastic to see so much interest in the first of the Earthbane games! Please do spread our crowdfunder around so we can hit more stretch goals and fund more books! Thank you so much for your support, in whatever form it comes.

Agreed!

GEARLOOSE IS GIZMODUCK’S INVENTOR, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

And that’s the sort of notes to our conversations that we send during the Monday Meeting!

Last Friday on the Reddit AMA, as Matthew alludes to above, we had some great questions about the Buried Treasures books and about The World Below as a whole, but I was also really gratified and impressed that the folks there took advantage of the chance to ask the many freelance creators who came by all about their work. Great use of the AMA!

I certainly like giving out hints and clearing up attendees’ concerns about various publishing issues, but folks can do that on a bunch of venues – these AMAs give you the opportunity to chat with the amazingly creative writers and devs that aren’t always on social media.

One thing though, we have discussed putting up a notice at the start of any more AMAs we do that explains that we’re not the ones to ask about Chronicles of Darkness. I know we were the ones creating and putting out the books before, but anything further with those game lines has to come from Paradox; it’s not our IP, nor our call to make. We loved creating WoD and CofD projects – in fact we love horror so much that when we could no longer work on those lines, we created our own, brand-new horror game line called Curseborne!

This last week, a video has shown up on our YouTube and other channels. Travis claims he has no memory of it or how it got there…but what dark magic does it presage?

Speaking of Curseborne, and we always do, the CB core PDF is on sale on DTRPG’s GM’s Day Sale: ending soon!

Another heads-up is the announcement that we’re doing another Community Content Game Jam! Here are some details for that exciting and fun event:

AwkwardGM Corbin is running another Storypath Nexus Game Jam this year!

The 2026 Storypath Nexus Game Jam will take place between 9:00 pm EST March 16th to 9:00 pm EST April 10th, 2026. Judge and Popularity votes will take place between April 11th and the 17th, 2026. Judges are allowed to score submitted entries early to speed up the process.

During the course of the contest, judges and contestants will be encouraged to stream their design process and content.

The winners will be announced on Onyx Path Publishing’s Twitch Stream at 9pm EST on April 17th, 2026.

This year’s prompt for all Storypath Nexus game lines is: Create an Adventure

Return here next week for the full rules and awards!

After he gave me the above info, Travis then pivoted to send us all this information about what’s going on over on our Twitch this week:

This week on the Onyx Path Twitch, we are kicking things off with a new installment of Mike Athey’s Trinity Continuum: Adventure! Actual Play tonight at 9PM EST. On Tuesday at 9AM EST, Comradebubbles returns with another installment of Behind the Screen. This season they are working on a new scenario for Trinity Continuum: Adventure! for release on the Storypath Nexus!

On Thursday at 3 PM EST Tom Murr is coming to the channel to run a one-shot of the World Below to support the Buried Treasures Backerkit campaign. Come see new material from the Delver’s Guide and Secrets of Kalm and Kaos in action!

Finally, on Friday night, Krow and the crew return for a new episode of Scion: The Veiled Society. Remember, if you can’t catch these programs live, they will be available to subscribers on Twitch as instant VOD afterward.

Bits of progress everywhere, and besides the AMA and some layout, I’ve also been talking to a bunch of printers in preparation for getting some books printed after we see how Exigents does getting to our fulfillment shippers and out to backers. Still some hurdles there across all our projects, but we’re finding a path, or two, through the minefield. Meanwhile, I have been continuing to deliver the kingdom heraldry for Monster Kingdoms to Matthew and Mirthful Mike.

Here’s an example for the elemental Kingdom of Branduur:

Hope you dig it (get it, because they’re a mining-rich kingdom)! In fact, thanks to you all who dig Buried Treasures, secret graves, or any of our:

The Storypath Ultra Core Manual presents a way for you to use Storypath Ultra to power whatever world you have in mind.

We’ve created this book so anyone can use Onyx Path’s system for their own private tabletop game sessions. Many people over the years have talked about how they hacked one of our games into different shapes to play in their favorite worlds, so this book is here to allow us to give you advice on how to build your game using Storypath Ultra from the ground up.

01_Introduction.jpg

Within these pages you’ll find:

  • Three example settings to showcase how to use Storypath Ultra, or to run as games in their own right
  • The complete core rules for Storypath Ultra
  • Expansions on the core rules, as well as building-block systems you can drop into games as needed
  • Advice on how to run and adapt Storypath Ultra to your needs

Coming this summer from Onyx Path Publishing:

The Storypath Ultra System will be open for third party publishing!

This license will allow other publishers to create entirely new game settings using the Storypath Ultra game system. This will be separate from our community content license. Stay tuned to the Onyx Path blog updates and be sure to sign up for Onyx Path Virtual Game Convention in June!

Here are the projects that moved to the next stage of production:

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Today, we can celebrate the birthday of Raul Julia, born Raúl Rafael Carlos Juliá y Arcelay (March 9, 1940 – October 24, 1994), a Puerto Rican actor and humanitarian. He was best known for his intense and varied roles on stage and screen. He started his career in the Public Theater before transitioning to film. He received numerous accolades including a Drama Desk Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and nominations for four Tony Awards. For us, of course, he will be forever known for portraying Gomez Addams and M. Bison with manic intensity, and he was beloved for his many, many charitable efforts which improved and enriched so many lives throughout the US, and particularly in Puerto Rico. He seemed to never hold back when his efforts would help, even if that meant he would “miss Gilligan”.

  1. I think this is a great change to the AMAs. Maybe include the canned explanation too, just so there’s no confusion.

    • Yeah, we think it might give folks a quick chunk of that info so we can chat about other things that aren’t out of our control.
