As I mentioned in the last entry, I do have some news! So let’s get on with it.
Book of the Wyrm is finally redlined and back with the writers.
RAGE Across the World is out of editing and in Chaney’s capable hands for layout.
The White Howlers Tribebook outline is done, and I’ve got a writer on board. I need to confirm a few things about the comic and get contracts out, and then we are go. Once everything’s confirmed, I’ll get the outline posted up.
If you weren’t following the Hunters Hunted II Kickstarter, you might not have seen that one of the stretch goals was a section on Project Twilight. I’ve got that sent off to Eddy, and I’m sure it’ll bring back some fond memories. “Bob Schnoblin’s Pyramid of Satanic Powerβ’” and all.
Wee! First.
Okay seriously, it’s about time you guys get W20 project done. Took awhile but I’m sure the results will justify the wait.
So, yeah I’m not ungrateful or anything just getting a bit impatient with the long vigil.
I understand where you’re coming from.
Not for nothing, but was my first time backing a Kickstarter, and as interested as I may be in current projects, I’m not willing to fund a new project until I get something back form the first one.
If I may make a suggestion for future Kickstarters?
I know that delays happen, we live in an imperfect world after all. But I think that if the estimated arrival date of the book were a bit more realistic it wouldn’t be such an issue. Had you guys padded that out, said something like June, then if it shows on my doorstep in April I’m pretty pleased. But here we are spitting distance from March and I was lead to believe I would have a book in my hands in January. I love you guys and I know shit happens but it makes me nervous.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited for what the Onyx Path is doing and I’m coming from a place of support and respect. I’m sure the book will be well worth the wait and I know we all appreciate the progress reports.
Adding to this, people look at this blog to find out what stage W20 is in. At this moment none of these extra books really matter, because we don’t yet have the core to use them with.
So, W20 info here too, please?
Well. I’m just glad that we’re getting the book at some point and that we all had the chance to share our minds. During the past year we’re had some great conversations. Some heated, some calm. But, always interesting. π
Just the knowledge that the lupus now get a paragraph in each tribal write ups thanks to this blog is worth all the wait in the world.
Still, i’m crossing my fingers for getting it in March. π
Oh, I’m glad for getting the book eventually. Especially as the lupus section, the tribal spreads and other things were clearly affected by our comments judging from the preview.
However, people DO look at this blog for news about W20. And like Kaz and Zylo said, it is rather annoying to see them advertise the books coming out far after W20 when W20 hasn’t been released yet and no word on W20.
Now, I understand the Kickstarter page and other blogs have them, but not all know this.
I understand your views perfercly, Ana. I’m mostly trying to keep morale up for everyone π
On the topic of changes that came about thanks to this blog. The lupus will get a huge segment on them in the Rage Across the World book, do you think it was already planned or that it’s a direct result of this blog too? I always thought it was due to the blog myself, but never quite dared to ask. I guess I just enjoy thinking we may have had a role to play in that. π
Whew. Right, lots of replies here. I’m responding to Blue Fox’s post to keep it with the thread, but I’ve read everything here and have taken it on board.
I’ve been reluctant to share progress reports on W20 because it’s not in my hands β Ethan developed the book, and Rich has been overseeing the rest of the process. So I don’t want to relay information on the W20 core because it’d be second- or third-hand information and I’d rather you hear it from the source (my inner Corax shining through). At the same time, I’ve got outlines and manuscripts and art for books that I am responsible for crossing my inbox, and I really want to share them with you all.
It’s fair to say that I should have poked Rich or Ethan to post updates here about how the book’s going. In hindsight, yeah. I should have done that. Or I should have bugged them for more information to give on the corebook. That’s something that I want to improve on in future.
On the direct issue of slippage, and how we didn’t hit our projected deadlines: we underestimated just how much would go into the projects we had lined up for 2012/early 2013. We’re working to fix that with the 2013/2014 schedule. Our deadlines are much more realistic now, so hopefully we won’t have people waiting for so long.
Well, hindsight is 20/20. In the end, the whole confusion issue started because the book took so long. Something nobody was expecting to happen.
Also, I think most of the creators and fans were swept up with the success of V20 and the kickstarter beauty that was W20. Now that things have calmed down, and the deadlines have been made realistic, I’m sure people will have more patience.
Thanks Stew.
Stew: In light of Richt’s recent post, please don’t see this question as pressure. I’m really just curious because I found the idea to be quite motivating. So, here goes. Is there any chance of seing a stretch goal which add content to BotW like Hunters Hunted II had?
Thanks π
We’re still experimenting with stretch goals and kickstarters at present β as Changing Breeds is dragging some, we’ve not really planned out a KS for that book yet, and Book of the Wyrm is a ways of.
That said, I really liked how that worked for Hunters Hunted II; I’ve definitely got something inspired by that in mind for Changing Breeds so we can expand the Hengeyokai and Ahadi without necessarily going to extra books.
This is where my head’s at now, things might change in the future, this is not a binding contract, void where prohibited. π
Hahaha. Excellent, thank you. That’s exactly the answer I was hoping for. π
I really agree. Come on guys, I backed you to the hilt with what for me was a lot of money. It’s frustrating to be asked for more when I’ve seen nothing back. Nice posts a usable book don’t make!
You’re not the only one Kaz, I’ve got a lot of money invested in this book as well.
But I’m pretty sure it won’t be that long now until PDF’s are ready and when PDF’s are done its only a small step to convert them to actual books to ship for us.
What does delay W20 a bit more how ever are the additional companion books, the ST-sheet and other stuff that we managed to cram in with our KS-madness.
