[Realms of Pugmire] Preview 2

One of the brand-new additions to Realms of Pugmire is the inclusion of templates. These allow players to quickly pick and choose options to make a well-rounded character without fiddling with the complete character creation ruleset. Here’s a small sample of what these templates will look like.

Template Creation

If you want to make a character quickly, or if you enjoy the challenge of making a series of random choices gel together into an interesting character, you can try using templates. These charts will help you make a complete character, just as if you made the character using the full character creation rules. All you have to do is follow the directions below. At each stage, pick which option looks most appealing, or roll randomly, and transcribe the information onto a character sheet.

A) Upbringings (1d8)

Choosing an upbringing for your template is the same as for full character creation: simply pick which of the seven appeals to you. If you can’t decide, feel free to roll 1d8 and use the table below.

1. Companion. Add +2 to Presence and write down the trick Puppy Dog Eyes. Go to step B1 (Upbringing Concepts: Companions) or C (Family Names).

2. Fettle. Add +2 to Vitality and write down the trick Hardy Constitution. Go to step B2 (Upbringing Concepts: Fettles) or C (Family Names).

3. Herder. Add +2 to Cunning and write down the trick Keen Observer. Go to step B3 (Upbringing Concepts: Herders) or C (Family Names).

4. Mutt. Go to step B4 (Upbringing Concepts: Mutts).

Alternatively, add +1 to any two attributes and pick one of the following first tricks: Brute Strength (worker), Hardy Constitution (fettle), Keen Observer (pointer), Puppy Dog Eyes (companion), Speedy Runner (runner), or Voracious Learner (herder). Go to step C (Family Names).

5. Pointer. Add +2 to Intellect and write down the trick Voracious Learner. Go to step B5 (Upbringing Concepts: Pointers) or C (Family Names).

6. Runner. Add +2 to Agility and write down the trick Speedy Runner. Go to step B6 (Upbringing Concepts: Runners) or C (Family Names).
