Putting some positivity out there!
Yes! The Curseborne Player’s Guide Kickstarter campaign wrapped up last week, and over a thousand backers pledged to help us get this next big book for Curseborne out into stores. Thank you, every one!
Yes! The Accursed Tales fiction anthology that came together out of the Stretch Goals of last year’s Curseborne campaign goes live to the public this Wednesday, and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver a multi-faceted look into the world of Curseborne thanks to the talents of so many gifted writers!
If you are still unsure as to what that world feels like; what goes on in it and what kind of horror or dark urban fantasy it can evoke in readers and players – this collection is sure to deliver answers to your questions!
Here’s Dixie with a few more thoughts in that direction:
All the stories in the fiction anthology are incredibly compelling and interesting glimpses into what life might be like for various Accursed, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to edit them. From a Hungry’s liminal space in a crowded apartment building to a Spawn of Vodník coming into her power to a Sorcerer picking up and dropping romantic partners to fuel their power, each story is a slice of cursed life from one of our Families. Was that person you met at the bar Johnny Peculiar or just plain peculiar? Can someone who’s Dead truly care for another person? What happens when your long-distance relationship goes from a dream to a waking nightmare? All these questions and more are answered in Accursed Tales, the Curseborne fiction anthology!
Yes! Of course, that’s not the only Curseborne news since we’re all waiting for the core book itself to move onto DTRPG and be available for all of the rest of those interested who didn’t back last years KS. Right now, as I write this, errata from the Backer PDF is being entered into the files to create the Final PDF, and then those files will be used to create the physical copy Print on Demand version. We’re very, very close now!

Yes! While not an Onyx Path-run Kickstarter campaign, we’re thrilled at the success of the Savage Worlds Scarred Lands KS which just achieved another Stretch Goal! Here’s Travis with a lot more info and hoopla on the campaign:
Overnight we reached 300% of our initial funding goal at the Scarred Lands Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds Kickstarter! We currently have over 130 backers contributing over $6,000 to bring this book to fruition! Thanks to these numbers we’ve unlocked 5 Stretch Goals so far, including additional adventures, Edge and Power cards, and a backer T-shirt!
Our next Stretch Goal, should we reach it, will fund the creation of a Blood Sea book for Savage Worlds! We’re currently just under $1900 from unlocking the Blood Sea Stretch Goal and we have 11 days left to get there! If you’ve not yet gotten involved yet please consider backing this comprehensive player’s guide to Scarred Lands! If you have backed, thank you so much! Please continue sharing the link and getting the word out about this campaign!

Yes! Let’s not forget that our next crowdfunding campaign is for Exalted: Infernals, and while we’re waiting for some of the art before we get approval from BackerKit, we’re still looking good to go live in November! Y’know, like this very month.

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Let’s start November celebrating some birthdays! First off, today in 1933, was Jeremy Brett, an English actor best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes from 1984 to 1994 in 41 episodes of a Granada TV series. IMO his Holmes is the definitive version in terms of hewing closest to the literary depiction. You and Eddy Webb may disagree. Next, in 1953, is Kate Capshaw, an American former actress and painter. She is best known for her portrayal of Willie Scott, an American nightclub singer and performer in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), and she was one of the few bright spots in that dismal movie. Her portraiture work has been shown in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. A year later, in 1954, we have Adam Ant, an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. And finally for this batch of birthdays, there’s Kevin Murphy (1956) an American actor and writer best known as the voice and puppeteer of Tom Servo on the Peabody Award-winning comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000. Murphy also records audio commentary tracks with Michael J. Nelson and Bill Corbett for Nelson’s RiffTrax website. Since I have a “life-size” replica of Servo in my studio, you can understand why I’m celebrating this very funny performer!
Nope, hard agree. There are other actors that come close (like Vasily Livanov), but Jeremy Brett is the best canonical Holmes actor.
While a lifelong fan of Holmes, I bow to the breadth and depth of your expertise across the many variations over the years.
