Trinity Continuing-uum. [Monday Meeting Notes]

Or should that be Trinity Continuuming?

In either case, the first full new setting for the Trinity Continuum is Trinity Continuum: Anima and it’s going to go live on Kickstarter next Thursday, the 18th!

Continuing the expansion of the Trinity Continuum in actuality instead of in theory has been an amazing ride for the whole team, and with TC: Anima you not only get to play in a new era floating in the timeline, but a new way of playing with the inclusion of rules for playing the virtual reality of the Terra Surge vid game!

Today, I’ve assembled a smattering of teasers and factoids to give you, our gentle readers, a brief taste of what you can look forward to from TC: Anima.

Here’s a link to a video teaser demonstrating how social media in the city of Cascade, and the ultra-popular and pervasive MMO Terra Surge combine:

Here’s developer Eddy Webb’s answer this basic question:

What is Trinity Continuum: Anima?

  • A brand-new Trinity Continuum game. Unlike TC: Æon, TC: Aberrant, and TC: Adventure!, this isn’t the second edition of a previously made game. This is a completely new setting in the year 2084, sitting between TC: Æon and TC: Aberrant.
  • A new take on cyberpunk. Unlike a hundred gritty, worn-down cyberpunk dystopias, the city of Cascade is shiny and new. Characters will still fight a fascist government and unethical corporations, but they do so in a gleaming city full of potential and hope.
  • A video game in an RPG. This isn’t just a tabletop adaptation of a popular video game; this is a new system that allows the characters of TC: Anima to themselves play in a fully immersive MMO. The rules are designed to make the experience feel like playing in a video game.
  • A modern take on cyberware. No loss of “humanity” or “essence” happens in TC: Anima. Nearly every character has cyberware, either as a brain implant or as assistive devices after a devastating war. Using cyberware doesn’t make you less of a person, but it does open new dramatic possibilities.
  • A mystery you can dig into right away. Streamers of the popular video game Terra Surge are disappearing. Why? That question is something that can draw the player characters in immediately, or Storyguides can focus on other parts of the setting to create their own conflicts and intrigues.

And here’s the links to an ongoing Trinity Continuum: Anima actual play by the delightful team at the Polyhedron Podcast:

Episode Two:

Now, we did have a couple of earlier Beta-test vids we had created that have now mysteriously disappeared. Very disappointing, as I was actually in one of them. Just bad luck I guess, or was it something more sinister?…

AND WHAT ELSE WENT ON IN TODAY’S MEETING?

Thanks for asking!

This Wednesday, we’ll be releasing Legendlore in both PDF and PoD versions and if you missed the Kickstarter for this absolutely beautiful 5e fantasy game, please do check it out. Before the official D&D 5e games were being revised to be more inclusive, Legendlore – which is a game about folks from our world transported to a fantasy world – was already written and developed and illustrated to depict a diverse fantasy world that evokes real-world concerns.

All while being a fantastic game setting that has stood the test of time from its legendary origin in comic books of the 1980s up ’til today!

Much like a bunch of our Kickstarter-based releases, the traditionally printed version of Legendlore is slated to be printed in January 2022 – which is the earliest berth we could get during these difficult manufacturing and shipping times. We were lucky that we could get Legendlore added to the slate of books to be printed! And once they are printed, we’ll get them shipped out as soon as our Kickstarter fulfiller can do it.

I won’t go into the new shipping shipping woes our team discussed today, as I’m sure you folks have had an earful from previous MMNs and other game companies!

In a rare sale that we know about in time to post in these notes, now through November 11th, Redbubble is offering 20% to 60% off sitewide. Use code WHYWAIT for T-Shirts, Posters, Notebooks, Stickers & more available at the Onyx Path Publishing Redbubble shop! https://www.redbubble.com/people/theonyxpath/shop

Like I’ve mentioned the last couple of weeks, we strongly encourage folks to dive in now and order anything you want delivered for the holiday season. G’head and take advantage of the timing of this sale as slow shipping and shortages may delay anything ordered after this time.

We always review what sales are going during the Monday Meeting, as we have enough sales partners that there is something going on practically every week. And then I share those sales here with you folks, so I hope I’m making it easier to keep on top of them!

Check out the ongoing sales at DTRPG and IPR with links below in their area of the Blurbs.

Finally, I’m looking forward to curling up with a nice Chai Tea Latte and reading through the finished script for the Scion TV pilot pitch. Our friends at Jenkins and Tate have been burning the midnight oil in order to get this ready so that they can start pitching the show to the various entertainment venues that are out there. Fingers crossed.

We’ve got a lot going on and a huge list of projects that are coming in the next months, and that’s just game books – there’s also a lot of other ways folks will be hearing about and enjoying our:

On Sale This Week!

This Wednesday you can pass into another world, the world of Legendlore! PDF and physical copy PoD versions available on DTRPG!

In Legendlore, you have Crossed from Earth into East Azoth and become a changed version of yourself — a songwriter finds themself a bard, a scientist a wizard. You might find yourself in a whole new body to better match your true self, including adopting a new fantasy race.

Legendlore offers a diverse and inclusive world filled with adventure and mystery. Fight megalomaniacal dictators, explore magic and strange science, and claim your Legend as you find a way back home.

In this book you’ll find:

  • 18 backgrounds to play as yourself in Legendlore, such as activist or scientist
  • Legend mechanics to represent your destiny, plus 5 sample Legends
  • Seven player races, including pixies and orcs
  • Two new classes, the alchemist and gunslinger, and 15 sub-classes
  • A starting adventure with five pregenerated characters

Drawn from The Realm and Legendlore comics, the Legendlore RPG will whisk characters from our world to a magical fantasy realm filled with dragons, orcs, unicorns, and hobgoblins. With over 60 comics published covering three volume runs, The Realm and Legendlore combined became one of Caliber Comics‘ most critically acclaimed series.

About Legendlore:

Legendlore was originally a comic called The Realm, first published by Arrow Comics in 1986 and since procured by Caliber Comics, about four people who fall through a Crossing into the Realm. The Realm is home to fantasy creatures from elves to dragons, and the characters discover they too have ‘fantasy powers’ – the jock becomes a Fighter, while the bookish one becomes a Wizard, and so on. They go on adventures and some of them eventually find their way back to Earth.

Conventions!

Because dates for physical conventions are subject to change due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we don’t yet have a list of upcoming physical conventions. Instead, keep an eye out here for more virtual conventions we’re going to be involved with!

While we won’t be attending as a company, some of our folks will be attending both PAX Unplugged in Philly in a few weeks, and Midwinter Convention in Milwaukee in January. Seek them out if you are attending those cons!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Tying into our Dracula’s Tomb Tasty Bit of a couple of weeks ago for They Came From Beyond the Grave!, and a lot of the interests of our community, today in 1847 Bram Stoker, the writer of Dracula, was born. And closer to home, the 10th marks the 24th anniversary of the release of Aeon, I mean Trinity!

  1. Just for curiosity sake. Should the shining holographic text in “Prometheus Unbound art by Farri Lensen” image be written in Portuguese? Because it almost is, excepting the fact that there is no word “Norça” in this language. It probably would be “Força”, meaning something like “Go, Heroes!”.

But anyway, it’s always excelent read MMN.

    Reply
    • Norça is the Psi order. Still agree they could go “Heróis da Norça” or “Força Norça” (what would would fun and I am sure they would say knowing people around here). Norça Heróis would sound like “Nossos Heróis” (our heroes) what is something solid too… a bit forced (Norced?)

      Reply
      • Well, we usually don’t abbreviate things like that. Considering the case of our customer defensory (ProCon, from “Procuradoria do Consumidor”), the “Nova Força Nacional” would be abbreviated as “NoForNa” or “NoFona” or simply NFA. And most of them sound terrible, or at least not so cool. So, yes, Norça is a better choice.

        Reply
        • This, of course, speaking about American Portuguese (or Brazilian Portuguese). I have no idea how it would work in European/Portugal Portuguese.

  2. So I read the blurb on Legendlore and the first thing it reminded me of was the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon from the 80’s in concept. And that’s a great idea.

    Reply
    • The answer is: we’re aware of the issue, thank you. There are, however, many other ways of finding out about new Monday Meeting posts.

  3. Ia there a bookmark for the kickstarter page?

I know some of them have like a prelaunch thing where you can set it up for kickstarter to notify you on launch?

    Reply
    • Since KS doesn’t let you make one of those until your project is approved, we’ll make one – but the time between it going up and the launch of the KS is liable to be pretty short! Thanks!

  4. Okay miiiight need to check out Anima. Been itching for a good cyberpunk game and uh….Catalyst ain’t making it. CP RED is fairly good but stll feels bogged down by it being made in the late 80s, and do not get started on how they treat cyberware. That and any game that lets me recreate .hack wins in my book.

Plus I”ll be honest, i kind of dig the Storypath system from Scion2E. I picked up the other TC game son DRPG but missed out on Adventure, sadly.

  5. I’ve been out of the loop for a bit as I have been working long hours to get my university’s system attended to but a question: What is Trinity: Aether?

    Reply
    • Trinity Continuum in the 1890s, with the Martians from War of the Worlds invading and our heroes able to harness the fluxxy power of Aether to change reality and their own bodies! Expect to see Jekyll / Hyde, Moriarty, and more!
