Wake Me Up With IndieGoGo… [Monday Meeting Notes]

Deluxe Exalted Exigents cover mockup.

…And Here’s the Exigents Book and Logo!

The Exalted Exigents crowdfunding campaign starts this Tuesday the 24th – tomorrow as I write this – at 2pm Eastern US time on IndieGoGo!

Regular readers of this blog have followed the chain of events that led to us going with IndieGoGo for this crowdfunding campaign, and end of the day, we’re really looking forward to how this campaign runs! Although there are some differences with how IndieGoGo works compared to Kickstarter, we’re all working on making sure that most of our backers’ interactions are very much the same fun experiences as our previous campaigns.

As always, our friendly and efficient Crowdfunding Concierge, James Bell, will be your host, and he’s available to answer any questions or concerns about the process that you might have! Then, when the campaign is over in about a month, we will once again be using BackerKit as our back-end service – just like our other campaigns.

There’s still time to use this link to the IndieGoGo Pre-Launch Page. There you can sign up to be notified once the campaign goes live, so you can jump right in. I’m also told by people in our community who have backed projects on IGG that you can also set up your IndieGoGo account now to avoid any delays in pledging when the campaign goes live. Bit of helpful advice there!

So, what’s in Exalted Exigents? Well, here’s some info from the IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign page:

  • Exigents give players and Storytellers the opportunity to flex their creativity, inventing unique Exalted as player characters, allies, or enemies.
  • This book presents four example types of Exigents with everything you’ll need to play them.
  • Includes descriptions of other Exigents for readers to flesh out with their own designs.
  • Also includes guidelines for creating new Exigents and Charms.
  • Exigents also offers players and Storytellers the chance to explore Creation’s little gods: their histories, passions, and plans. An Exigent’s relationship with the god who chose them can be far more personal than those of other Exalted with their distant patrons. Even an Exigent whose patron god didn’t survive her Exaltation might still find herself entangled with his priesthood, cult, allies, and enemies.
  • The Creating New Exalted chapter explores adding entirely new kinds of Exalted to your game, with three examples of optional Exalted: the Dream-Souled, masters of illusion and transformation; the Hearteaters, monstrous Exalted who feed on free will; and the Umbral Exalted, wracked by inner turmoil and a darkness that both corrupts and empowers them.

Looking forward to seeing everybody on IndieGoGo for this very exciting Exalted Exigents crowdfunding campaign!

WE’RE NOT PLANNING ON GOING SOLO!

Because we’re going to the Monday Lunch Meeting! Every Monday for over a decade, our Onyx Path crew get together and discuss company and industry issues, review our many, many, projects and their progress, and look at upcoming events like conventions and sales. Then, I write up as much as I’m able to talk about and give you folks a look at what we’re doin’.

Even though we are closing in on the last week of May, it is still our 10th Anniversary Celebration month featuring Scion! Here are some of things we’re doing to celebrate Scion this month:

The Scion sales for May are still going, with the 10% PDF Sale at DTRPG for a selection of Scion 2e projects and the 50% off Sale at Indie Press Revolution on physical Scion 2e projects rolling along. Details below in the Sales Partners section!

This Friday on the Onyx Pathcast, the casters are joined by Danielle Lauzon, Storypath Expert Extraordinaire, for a session of character creation that takes Scion 2e characters from Origin power levels right through to Demigod status! If you ever wanted to see how this character creation works, now’s your chance to see the experts make it happen!

This week, the Scion: Hero Compendium is live on Roll20! This Virtual Tabletop project goes with the Scion: Origin Compendium and the Scion 2e character sheets and art packs to provide online gamers on Roll20 everything they need to play! More on this next week, but for now, here’s the link:

Unbelievably, we are closing in on two weeks before our 2022 edition of the Onyx Path Virtual Convention. Where did time go as we were planning all this! With this being run during our 10th Anniversary Celebration, expect all sorts of surprises!

As Dixie tweeted: “The Onyx Path Virtual Con 2022 is June 10-12 and we want more people running (unstreamed) games! This is the perfect chance to test out something you want to run at Gen Con in August!”

Remember that at our convention, if you run a game you can charge for it and you’ll receive 50% of that as payment for all your hard work! (The rest goes to the con runners and mostly to our convention charity: the Bodhanna Group – who use gaming for therapeutic purposes).

So, please do sign up by using the links below in the Conventions section, and also note that our lists of our official Actual Plays and also our Official Panels are in the Conventions section, as well. Check them out – there’s something there for any and all of our fans!

And, yes, Dixie did mention GenCon Online, where we are waiting to hear back about a raft of panels we submitted.

In a follow-up to last week’s attempt at humor here on the MMN blog, the SFWA Convention auction seats all filled. Matthew won the bid-off for his auctioned They Came From! player seats topping Eddy’s Pugmire player seats by $30…or were they pounds, hmm Matthew? Regardless of which game, those players are in for a rare treat as they play in games run by the actual creators of the game lines, who just happen to be amazing game runners to boot!

Finally in convention news, Eddy had to drop out of attending MOMO in Atlanta as members of his household have come down with Covid. Nothing awful, so far, and Eddy hasn’t tested positive, but the last thing he wants to do is to be around a bunch of folks and inadvertently help spread the virus.

Gotta applaud Eddy’s decision, and also this is why we’re still being very careful in attending physical conventions as a company. Folks want it to be over, we all want it to be over, but people we know are still coming down with it.

Finally, we’ve added the first Crossroads Continent adventure, set in the world I created for my long-running D&D campaign, to the Project Progress Report as it is now headed into layout. I’ll be running this during the Onyx Path Virtual Convention in a few weeks and we’ll be offering it in PDF with VTT play aids during the Con. Maybe. If I can pull the whole thing together in time!

It’s pretty wild to be opening the door to the CRC for so many people after so many years. I mean, even though hundreds of characters and scores of players have tramped through the sandy streets of the City With No Name, or the mud of the Kralgon Swamp, it’s still pretty daunting to anticipate how modern gamers are going to perceive it all.

Nothing for it but to forge ahead and give it our absolute best effort! Just like we’ve been doing with all of Onyx Path for these:

Ten Years, Many Worlds, One Path!

Conventions!

Because dates for physical conventions are subject to change due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we don’t yet have a list of upcoming physical conventions. Instead, keep an eye out here for more virtual conventions we’re going to be involved with!

We’ve just submitted panels for the online version of Gen Con for early August, and if you’re interested in running or playing our games there, they’ve recently released this link:

https://www.gencon.com/gen-con-online/hosting-events-eo-gmhttps://www.gencon.com/event_registrations/new

Tabletop Scotland is due to take place on 27th and 28th August 2022 and will play host to at least four Onyx Pathers running our games and sitting on panels live and there in the room with you! If you’re UK or Europe based, it’s an excellent con to visit and within traveling distance from Edinburgh, which takes flights from a lot of places! Consider paying Tabletop Scotland a visit. https://tabletopscotland.co.uk/

3rd Onyx Path Virtual Con – June 10th-12th.

This year’s Onyx Path Publishing Virtual Convention page is now live on Start Playing Games:

Check it out now for the GM sign-ups section if you want to run games during the con. More info on events and panels and all yet to come!

Development Status from Eddy Webb!

(Here are the projects that moved to the next stage of production):

Final Drafts

TC: Adventure – Thrilling Tales

  • Eddy: Redlines were turned around on time, so this stretch goal adventure for… well, Adventure! is moving ahead on schedule!

  • Matthew: If you want some started scenarios for Demigod, this is your book. Now entering final drafts with some rather fantastic ideas on its pages.

Development

Exalted – Sidereals

  • Dixie: It’s always exciting to launch a new edition of a classic Exalt type, and I’m sure this version of Sidereals will be as loved as our other 3e splats have been since I came on board! Sidereals moving forward?? Exigents IndieGoGo tomorrow??? I can’t contain my Exalted excitement today!

TC: Anima – Anima Jumpstart – Terra Surge

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

From Impish Ian: 21 years ago today, reddish Trans-Neptunian Kuiper Belt object 2001 KX76 was discovered, a designation later attached to the Red Star from the World of Darkness.

In a masterstroke of serendipity, the provisional designation 2001 KX76 was retired a year later, replaced with the final designation, 28978 Ixion. Ixion was the first man guilty of kin-slaying in Greek mythology, the rough equivalent of Caine.

Art imitates art imitates life, etc…

  1. Holy hell, Exigents tomorrow, Sidereals moving along at a pace I can barley fathom, and Scion: God is in approval, and will have new pantheons? Colour me excited!

    Reply
  2. I’m also a little shocked at how fast Sidereals (and maybe Getimians?) has come along. Got to admit, I was feeling kind of cynical before about seeing the rest of the big splat books before the end of the decade :P. Glad to see the line doing so well! Great job guys!
