    • Starting at $35 you can get a PDF (“you’ll receive a free copy of the W20 PDF”). Starting at $120 (US) you can get the physical book (“you will receive a copy of the Deluxe Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition:).

  1. I want to ask same thing but a little more than it. which donation level get’s me Heavy Metal Deluxe Edition W20 book to non-US country?

Also for supporter-character issue, how creative could we be? I’ve a Garou character that played for long long time but not from 13 tribe. I want to talk about my culture and therefore my own-created tribe.

    Thank you.

    • Regarding the non-canon tribe, I don’t think that’s likely. But then again, I don’t think that there’s a tier that offers more than using the character name, or your likeness other than the personalized character sheet/drawing. If there’s one you’re referring to in particular, what pledge level is it?

(I’m not a representative of OPP or anyone else involved with the company/production.)

  2. I find your pricing scheme disappointing. I have seen nobody companies produce high quality books for more than half the cost. $120 for one book and one pdf is excessive. I have backed nearly 30 projects on kickstarter and I love Werewolf. That being said I cannot pay that excessive amount for even a special edition. Good luck guys, but I wont be buying this.

    • That’s certainly your choice, however that price covers the costs of creating the book, shipping, and paying everyone who created it. V20 last year went for $100, and that price didn’t include shipping. This does.

    • I may be wrong, but I believe that the high cost of the book is that the book itself costs OPP a very significant chunk of change. This is not just a Hardcover full-color book… this is a limited quantity, leatherette-cover with custom die-cut, medallion on the spine, full-color print with silvered edging and two ribbon bookmarks in a 420+ page book. Content aside, that alone makes the book expensive to produce. Check out Rich’s explanation of the cost per-book of the V20 Companion where they made very little (if anything) off of each of those books, even though they were pricey.

That all being said, if you don’t want this Deluxe Edition of the W20 book, DriveThruRPG.com will be selling the book as PDF and Print-on-Demand (if we use the V20 book as a template, it will likely be offered as b/w softcover, b/w hardover, and 2-volume full-color hardcover) a few months from now. This KickStarter is just for the Deluxe edition and its goodies. However, as Ian has mentioned, it’s about the same price as the V20 Deluxe book last year, so it’s in line with the other pricing of its own books.

  3. Excellent news! And I have been fortunate enough to get in on having a named character in the book being named after my in-game character. My one question is whether I can please please please have that character be a Pentex / Endron / Magadon etc. employee?

  4. So very disappointed in the Kickstarter. From what I had read leading up to this point the whole idea behind it was to give the hardcore fans that wanted to support Werewolf some cool rewards as a thank you for supporting WW for 20 years. All the rewards for the lower levels are PDF’s of older Werewolf books (that I am sure most hardcore fans already have). The unique higher level rewards are very limited in numbers (which is understandable), but limits the number cool support rewards.

I would rather have seen a smaller cooler rewards, such as a Garou Nation Pin, or an Expanded Sept of the Green PDF, or something along that line, instead of just some PDF’s of books that most of us already own.

Personally I have the V20 book and it is ‘pretty’ but not super practical for use at the table do it’s size. From what I have hear the Werewolf book is going to be even lager. I had decided earlier that I was going to wait and buy the 2 volume set (yes I am assuming that it will be like V20) when it is released as POD from Drivethru RPG unless there were really cool rewards to go along with the W20 Deluxe version. The only version I could foresee buying would be the Uber Deluxe version but that is out of my price range at this time. So sadly as much as I would really truly like to give more support this project I can not justify it.

Totally Agree, it needs more promotion material, an old Werewolf DiceSet maybe…

  5. God I wish I had the money, would so get this, but if worst comes to worst, will just wait till it comes out on Drivethrurpg and get it since it won’t be as expensive (and will be going for the book above all else)

  6. Well, we’ve met all the stretch goals and it’s only Day 2… what’s next? Maybe the next stretch goal could be to lower the price of the Heavy Metal edition? Or if we hit some obnoxious amount, we don’t need another kickstarter for W20 Changing Breeds because it’s already paid for?

  7. More a question for Richard, I guess, but:
While the Pledge amount is cool, what is the actual number of Deluxe Edition books that you’d like to see “pre-ordered” through this?

As of 07:39am EST, 714 books are accounted for and $123,554 pledged (95 of the 761 pledges don’t include [at least without adding on the Deluxe edition on their own] the Deluxe edition, so that means that at least 666 books are accounted for on their own, plus the tiers that include extra ones… so, add 48 from the 18+4+4+4+9+9… if my math is right, but the question is more about the concept than the actual numbers my sleepy brain came up with.)

  8. As a stretch goal i would like dice. though you say thats problematic (i don’t know why though)

do you have a way of letting us know if/when the 2900 Heavy metal pledges are made?

    thank you

    Reply
    • It’s problematic because we don’t make dice. We don’t have leftover dice. We’d have to find someone to make dice to our specifications, and make a lot of them — but probably not in enough quantities for a bulk discount.

We’re not a company that produces physical product anymore, so any physical product is problematic for us to produce.

  9. I really really want to pledge this project with at least $220 (not sure if I get the money for the heavy metal version ready on time), but, at the moment, I am not allowed to. Unfortunately, I do NOT own a credit card. Here in Europe, these are not as common as in the US and it would take more than one month to get one from my bank.

I already checked the descriptions as well as the Frequently Asked Questions section of your project for information about other payment possibilities, but to no avail. So I’d like to ask, if you could PLEASE(!!) provide the possibility to pledge via PayPal. This would be a great convenience for myself (and presumably others) as well as the only way for me to pledge the project at all.

    • Unfortunately, we’re limited to what Kickstarter permits. That means major credit cards or Amazon Payments.

Sorry. It prevents me from backing too.

      Reply
      • Well, other kickstarter projects offer PayPal, too.
        E.g. the Planetary Annihilation kickstarter.

Also, the PayPal funding does not necessariliy need to count toward the kickstarter funding. Noone should be able to prevent you from selling additional copies of the stuff in addition to the kickstarter project, should they ?

  10. Will the W20 be available through anything else other than kickstarter? Will you reprise this kickstarter campaign now that it is closed to offer another opportunity to purchase the material, or will you use another means to offer the products mentioned?

    Reply
    • As with all of our Kickstarters, they’re for the deluxe editions only. Since the Kickstarter has been over for a month, it’s no longer possible to get the deluxe edition.

The regular edition — both print and PDF — will be available on DriveThruRPG.
