Wikipedia Is Wrong

  • Rich and I talk a little about Thanksgiving. We try to call Russell, but no answer — we’ll try to connect with him again later in the week to talk about Requiem stuff.
  • Over the holiday, someone had incorrectly listed White Wolf as defunct on our Wikipedia page. A fan mentioned it to me on out Facebook page, and I was able to swing over and correct things.
  • Our Exalted sale on DriveThruRPG did well, and we’re interested in seeing how well our fiction sale at DriveThruFiction will do (especially with the release of Strangeness in the Proportion on PDF).
  • Rich has a stack of print-on-demand books that he’s ready to make live. I showed him how to wrestle with the backend of DriveThruRPG to make that happen.
  • Colin is moving forward with Mummy.
  • Ethan says that he’ll have the Geist 1.1 revisions in today or tomorrow.
  • Chaney is working on the layout for Imperial Mysteries.
  • I have to run a bit early, because I have some MMO work to do today.
Today’s Reason to Drink: Strangeness is finally out!

  1. “I have some MMO work to do today” <— That sounds really interesting! If you could tell us a little bit more on this regard, we would love you even more. If not… Hmm… I guess we will still be fine with you. πŸ˜€

  2. I already love what you staff of the WoD MMO project did in few weeks to EVE Online, I can’t wait to have more news on World of Darkness =w= Sometimes I hate your information policy as much as I love it U.U

  3. Wrestling with the backend, you say? I think I’ve seen some movies on that topic.

I’m also pleased to know that the Exalted sale did well. I’m definitely curious to know which products moved the most, and here’s hoping the fiction sale goes well (if only so you guys pay me to write the erotic Exalted novella, Eternal Hamster).

  4. Bad news. Apparently, some jackass has reverted your edits; the article once again claims that White Wolf is “effectively defunct”.

While I am primarily an Exalted fan, Imperial Mysteries has me very excited. These facts are perhaps not unrelated.

What, exactly, is Geist 1.1? A revision, a reboot, a new-edition-that-isn’t-calling-itself-2.0-for-whatever-reason, a new sourcebook, an errata compendium, or…something else? And if it’s a revision, reboot, or errata, why was Geist, specifically, deemed to need this over any other nWoD game?

I’m not complaining, mind you. It’s just a vague name, and I’m perplexed and intrigued at what it might mean. Speaking of which, is that the official title or is it shorthand or a placeholder for a title yet to be determined?

    • Thanks for the note — I’ve reverted the change, and now I’ve set a watch on the page.

Geist 1.1 is a revision of the core rulebook as we prepare it for print-on-demand and an updated PDF release. It was felt that this game had some serious editing errors due to it’s rushed completion, so we devoted some time to fixing it.

  5. Will the PoD editions have the same kind of look and feel as the originals? I have the Geist corebook and the indentation of the cover and the feel of it is fantastic. How close will they be in terms of paper and binding etc?

    Thanks!

      • I have to say, I’m blown away by the PoD of V20 colour hardback. I love that Demon is there to be bought as well, and I REALLY hope that the Wraith line comes back for a PoD appearance.

I was late to the party with the old World of Darkness and have built up a considerable and highly played NWoD library, but as a result of the cost of some of the OOP OWoD, I have only collected Wraith. I’m now looking at bringing Masquerade, Werewolf and Demon to my players over time due to the shift in business direction for WW allowing me to do this. I was sad to hear of the layoffs last year and I truly hope that this new model works as well for WW / CCP as is does for me and my players – your fans and customers.

Great books; great move. I never expected to play these games and my group couldn’t be more pleased!

  6. Actually, the cunning bastard that made Wikipedia say that White Wolf was defunct, has been doing it for… SInce forever, really. I have personally reverted his/her change 5 times in the first two weeks after the CCP layoffs. Whoever it is seems to be reapplying the change again and again.

  7. Oh wow. Fixing Geist, Imperial magic and a new fatsplat?

I’ve been prodding WW with desultory interest for the last two years, but goddamn you’ve hooked me again.

  8. So, any word on the release date for Imperial Mysteries? Will it come out in time for Christmas?

Mage is my second favourite game after Exalted, so more detail on whem I can finally get a copy of the book about archmastey would be great.
