…of snow!
What did you think I meant?
The Eastern US got hit by a massive snowstorm with some areas reporting 15-18″. So those of us who had to dig out from all that were a bit tired at our weekly Monday Meeting. Fortunately, nobody lost power and couldn’t attend! But we were pretty “to-the-point” with so many snow warriors in attendance.
So, to keep it quick, in Curseborne news we are still at #13 on DTRPG right now after weeks at #1 and the top ten. Very cool folks, we appreciate it!
Also, CB dev and SPU mechanical genius Danielle Lauzon got this Curseborne moth inspired tattoo over the weekend:

Danielle gets one for each major project she completes, and this one was inked by @earthtoneink, if you are interested!
Thanks to folks who commented or sent me notes about our Onyx Path Forums, like I asked for last week! Really appreciate you all sharing your thoughts!
From what I can tell from your responses, there’s a strong feeling of nostalgia for the Forums, possibly flowing from having heavily used the WW forums back in the day for some folks. There’s also practical concerns for following more clearly individual topics in longer form responses. As I noted in the Comments, I do think that the folks at Reddit and Discord have tried tweaking or adding to their functionality because of those concerns, but I personally don’t know if those changes are useful to those who prefer the forum structure for social media.
I’m also asking folks whether they have been posting lately, and to which of the forums we have there, and if not lately, where did you used to post. And, I guess, I’m interested in why you are posting now, if you haven’t posted for a while. Anybody who can illuminate me further, please do comment or send me direct messages so we can hear from you folks to give us a real human being’s (I’m assuming a lot, I know 😉 ) thoughts about our Forums. Thanks!
I have some just announced economic news to share: the costs for PoDs on DTRPG are going up due to material costs at the printer. This isn’t a DTRPG or Onyx Path decision, but we have to adjust pricing based on it. If you want any of our PoDs at the old prices, better jump on it this week as they shift on Feb 1st.
I received this update from Travis as he was out of the office for the Monday Meeting –
This week on the Onyx Path Twitch, ComradeBubbles returns to the channel for a brand new season of Behind the Screen! This will be the season premiere, so be sure to tune on on Tuesday at 9 AM EST to find out what this season’s project will be!

I received the following from StartPlaying today:
Today, StartPlaying is announcing an urgent charity effort from today, through the end of February to support the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund (IRRF), hosted by the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota.
IRRF is a coalition of philanthropic leaders rooted in communities most impacted by immigration-related harm, ensuring resources move quickly and responsibly to trusted, community-based organizations responding on the ground. As enforcement actions and policy changes escalate, IRRF provides rapid, community-informed funding for urgent basic needs like food, housing, transportation, and health care; critical legal defense and rights protection; and community organizing, know-your-rights education, and safety planning for immigrant and refugee families across Minnesota.
StartPlaying is waiving our standard 15% platform fee for all IRRF charity games and will match funds raised by GMs dollar-for-dollar up to $3000, with all proceeds donated directly to the fund.
https://startplaying.games/event/immigrant-rapid-response-fund?
I believe you can run any games if you want to, so please do run Onyx Path games to help support this cause! We’ll be having our own themed events with StartPlaying throughout this year as they are dropping the gaming nights structure in order to concentrate on Event games.

Saw on FB someone asking about whether we’re going to put out more Crossroads Continent projects, so I figure I can address that here. Yep, we are. The only reason we didn’t keep up a few years ago was that the prep work for several new game lines including Curseborne, all the Earthbane Cycle projects, and Branch Riders just required all of my time with concepting, both written and visual.
Now that the core books for those are out, and that sort of heavy-lifting has been set in ink, as it were, it’s my hope that Travis and I can pull together the magic + magic items book we put on the back burner several years ago. I still need to do a bunch of art for the items, so it’s not something we can just rush out, but trying to make it out for this year isn’t an impossible goal. After that, there have been some setting guide requests from our gang here, so maybe that could come next.
Sure do appreciate folks asking about my home game projects, though – that’s really nice to hear.

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Today, on the date of his actual death in 2016, we celebrate the career of Abe Vigoda, best known as Tessio in The Godfather, Fish from Barney Miller, and Otis the fry cook in Good Burger. But, for years, people made the mistake of thinking he had passed away, causing him to respond good-naturedly as the gag built: in 1982, People magazine mistakenly referred to Vigoda as dead. At the time, Vigoda, aged 60, took the mistake with good humor, posing for a photograph published in Variety, in which he is sitting up in a coffin, holding the erroneous issue of People. In 1997, Vigoda appeared in Good Burger as the character Otis, the titular restaurant’s french fry man. Several jokes were made about his high age, including his character Otis saying, “I should’ve died years ago”. That same year, he was shopping at Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan when the salesman remarked, “You look like Abe Vigoda. But you can’t be Abe Vigoda because he’s dead.” A Late Night with David Letterman skit showed Letterman trying to summon Vigoda’s ghost, but Vigoda walked in and declared, “I’m not dead yet, you pinhead!” In May 2001, a website was created to report whether Vigoda was alive or dead; it eventually went offline no later than 2023. In addition, in 2005, a “tongue-in-cheek” Firefox extension was released, with the sole purpose of telling the browser’s user of Vigoda’s status. On October 31, 2013, at age 92, Vigoda again defied rumors of his demise by appearing on stage with the American rock band Phish in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during a performance of the band’s song “Wombat”, from their 2014 album Fuego, which mentions Vigoda by name.
From the Monthly KS updates (Thank you James)
-Curseborne Solo Guidebook
-Seattle: City of Curses
-“Big Project” coming for October
-Curseborne Community Content Guidelines in the Proofing Queue
I know your not going to spoil the “Big Project”, BUT, does the fact that it’s your Halloween project mean we might see the Cities guide earlier than that? Cuz that would be AWESOME.
The campaign I am working towards is a cursed roadshow and so I need lots of city bits that I can mix and match.
Is it going to be a KS or is it considered to small a project for that? If a KS, have you considered as stretch goals having a compilation of cities book. do just 1 chapter each and let the backers vote on what’s in the book. could do a bunch of international looks to see what CB looks like in different spots around the world. Do a chapter for a city you make whole cloth just to show it should look like real, but it doesn’t have to be a real place
Good ideas! The Seattle book is still being written and devved, so it’s hard to say exactly when we’ll have it ready for crowd-funding – if we go that way with it. There are a lot of moving parts that determine what books get crowd-funded, including finding ways to avoid unpredictable charges from tariffs, etc. So…we’ll see!
Is there any plan to make a tasty bit or some other supplement to help players and storyguides transition from Storypath to Storypath Ultra? Like, a special guide for Trinity or Scion?
So far, there’s a version in the free SPU brochure, and another will be in the back of the SPU book. If anybody in our community wants to take a swing at a more specific version, I’d suggest waiting until the suggestions in the SPU core rules manual are available on DTRPG (the Backer PDF just went out to backers, so that process has started!).
