Our Exalted: Exigents crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo is entering its last few days and continues to do really well as it approaches 400% funded – but now we are all waiting with bated breath for the answer to this question:
Will we get a big couple of closing days?
We’d love to rocket past a few more juicy Stretch Goals and provide even more value for each and every pledge! So please, let folks know! Tomorrow, we’ll be releasing the rest of the text for the book with the Appendix – which I’m told is filled with hugely useful info on Exigent creation and charms!
It’s going to be a gorgeous physical book, so if you are a backer already, but not for the Deluxe – now’s the time! Here’s the place!: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/exigents-out-of-the-ashes-for-exalted-3rd-edition
Next up in crowdfunding, Trinity Continuum: Aether!
If you haven’t heard, Aether is the Trinity Continuum in the Victorian Era, and before we get to the campaign, keep an eye out for the teaser – done in a style delightfully appropriate for the era!
You folks might remember me writing about the fact that Onyx Path is a sponsor for this current season (the 13th!) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 now going live on the Gizmoplex. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new season, and haven’t seen our ads, allow me to present you the first one:
I’ll have more info and even another of the ads they made for us next week!
Also, as I’m following up on announcements we made in the last year, remember our announcement about a Scion TV show – or at least the pitching of a Scion TV show? We haven’t been picked up yet to actually start making it – please believe we’ll make a lot more noise when that happens – but last week I was sent a list of casting options from Jenkins and Tate, the folks pulling together the pitch, for my thoughts on their ideas for who might play which character. Which again, doesn’t indicate anything is happening, but is a cool step in the process.
Although we are approaching the end of June, we’re not there yet! So our June Onyx Path 10th Anniversary Celebration featuring the Crossroads Continent game line continues – 90% off the Peoples of the Crossroads Continent PDF on DTRPG – and both Studio2 and IPR are continuing their 50% sales of our traditionally printed books, screens, and dice!
Details and links below in our Sales Partners section!
Which means, wow, we’re halfway through our celebration year! The Summer Solstice is tomorrow (as I write this) and when June is actually over, we’ll have six more months to keep celebrating!
Which is pretty wild, as I still remember when we decided to do the whole nutty thing! It was a huge arena and all of our thousands of employees were chanting: “Ten Years! Ten Years! Party! Party!”.
But really, no. Despite ten years where we’ve pretty much released something new every single Wednesday, Onyx Path is very much the opposite of the giant corporation. We do a lot with the amazingly talented creators and crew that we have, but we are still a very small company.
We currently have 4 actual employees that are listed with our payroll service and tax guys. Everyone else is a freelance contractor – Dixie, Eddy, Matthew, Ian, included. To repeat: we do a lot with the amazingly talented creators and crew that we have, but we are still a very small company.
We have no shareholders – we don’t even have cupholders – and no price per share to keep our eyes on (and make decisions based on). So if you’ve been convinced by all that we do that Onyx Path is a big, cold, corporate entity…it’s not. Because there is no “it”.
Onyx Path isn’t really a thing except for the people who create all these wonderful worlds. The people who are always pushing their creative muscles to the max, and who do so around the world every day, every week, and every month for ten years now.
Every month, on average, we send payments to over fifty freelance creators around the world – to fourteen countries besides the US – and we’ve done so for many hundreds of writers, editors, illustrators, developers, streamers, art directors, and graphic designers in these last ten and a half years. We’re super-proud of the work they’ve created that we’ve published, and we hope you’ve been equally glad to enjoy the fruits of their labors!
So when I’m here this whole year going on and on about our 10 Year Anniversary Celebration and we divide the year into monthly focuses on game lines, the lines are cool and important, of course, but we’re also celebrating all of the creators of the projects in those game lines who have contributed to these:
Ten Years, Many Worlds, One Path!

We’ve submitted panels for the online version of Gen Con for early August, and if you’re interested in running or playing our games there, they’ve recently released this link:

If you’re UK or Europe based, it’s an excellent con to visit and within traveling distance from Edinburgh, which takes flights from a lot of places! Development Status from Eddy Webb!
(Here are the projects that moved to the next stage of production):
Development
Scion – Path to Apotheosis (was Demigod Scenarios)
- Matthew: If you’re an established or a new Scion Storyguide, I have a feeling you’ll enjoy the story hooks in this book. With Scion: Demigod coming soon, this one will be an essential purchase.
Post-Approval Development
Scion – Scion: God
- Matthew: Rich and I have reviewed the manuscript and to describe our feelings as “happy” would be an understatement. The team on this book have done a titanic job in making a game where you play beings of godly power accessible, dynamic, and fun.
Editing
TC: Anima – Anima: DLC
- Eddy: The new material looks great, and it was quickly developed and approved! So we shoot ahead to editing. I’m pleased because I wasn’t able to squeeze a new class into the material before, but we’ve got it in now, so there’s even more material for your new anima alt….
Layout Approval
Mage: the Ascension – M20 Sorcerer
- Matthew: We worked on this one in secret for quite a while. I think people are really going to enjoy our return to the world of Sorcerer for the first time in decades.

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Today in the US, we’re celebrating Juneteenth, which I believe is the latest national Monday holiday to be enacted. And I am indeed aware of the ironic aspects of the way I wrote that. To quote Barack Obama, “Juneteenth is a time to commemorate the anniversary of the delayed news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas. Today, we remember that struggle for freedom as we reflect on how far we’ve come as a country—and on the work that remains undone.”
I was joking with my friend that I would be a happy camper if, this year, Adventure! and Anima came out in final forms and Aether was at least Kickstarted and…well…looks like a third of that has been confirmed will happen. WOO HOO!
Glad you’re digging the Trinity Continuum games! We’ve got six months to do either or both of the other two, so let’s see!
I have to voice my concern at the few titles of CoD in development. I know it’s not your decision to have it benched, but I think a little reminder every now and then that some people like this line most of all is a good thing.
We know the line is liked and do appreciate people like yourself voicing your enjoyment of it. As you say, it’s not our decision, but the best support fans of the Chronicles of Darkness can give is to play those games, buy the books we have out or coming up (especially through stores), and leave reviews for them.
As Matthew notes, we have no doubt that there are folks who love the CofD game lines. We’re really not the ones you need to convince! 🙂 Sort of my point in the blog today: our creators love CofD, too, and are champing at the bit to do more horror TTRPG projects. But very glad you are a fan, and that you’ve enjoyed where we’ve been able to take them with our license.
I must say that Exigents has turned out to be a better book that even I was expecting. The section on Charm creation is a masterclass in game design (and kudos to whoever came up with that BRILLIANT idea of putting the effect index in there!). But in addition to that, the Puppeteer and the Sovereigns are essentially now the coolest exalt types on record (move over Abyssals and Alchemicals)! Here’s hoping for a big influx of backers in the next couple of days!
And I am beyond excited that the next crowdfunding project is TC: Aether! Anima was the one that first had the power to turn my head away slightly from Exalted to notice another game, but as I became a fan and looked over the various eras, Aether is the one that I have been anticipating the most. And I sincerely hope that there’s a good amount of aether talk in Aether! In my view, Einstein and his deconstruction of physics to eliminate the idea of an aether is essentially the reason why we don’t have flying cars or hoverboards right now in 2022. Onward to Super-Science!
Glad you’re very excited about these projects. Excitement can be a two-edged sword, though – I’ve seen plenty of people go overboard and treat creators poorly using it as an excuse. Something to think about, maybe.
Huh? That’s a weird reply. It makes me think you have something specific in mind, but I can’t imagine what that would be.
Well, hey, you’ve got my email address, so if you want to talk about something that you are upset about with something I’ve said, I’d love to talk about it with you.
No, I’m fine. Not upset. My email is all over our social media, so if you think there’s something to chat about, please do reach out. Otherwise, I really do hope you think about my comment here.
Aether! Let’s GOOO!
YEAHHHH!
Could we have another general “state of development” post sometime soon, rather than just a note of things that have moved? I’m losing track of where things like Many-Faced Strangers and Across the Eight Directions are at.
Thise parts used to happen once a month, but they seem to have disappeared entirely over the past 2 months, unless I’ve missed something.
They do indeed happen at the end of every month, so you either need to wait until the end of June or look back at the one from the end of May.
As Matthew stated, there is a monthly post of just that. You can always find the latest one just above the “Development Status from Eddy Webb!” header in each week’s blog. Happy reading!
We used to have the report every week cover where every single project we had announced was at in the creation process, but changed that this year to the weekly MMN blog having the latest movement only – along with a link to the monthly overall list located just where ThomasM notes in their post. But that monthly report has certainly been coming out in the end of the month round-up – I know because I check it in order to update that link for the MMN every month. Now, if the new system overall isn’t as helpful for you (or anybody reading these comments) as the old progress report was, please do let us know! Thanks!
While I miss the old big shopping list to check what is coming to be available… I am really happy with the comments about the ones that changed status. It’s very nice to have a comment about the books we are expecting.
For example, if you both are more than happy about God, I am even more interested in it now than before.
That’s really what we hoped would be most readers’ reactions as the team really likes getting the chance to do a mini-highlight for a project rather than just a list of titles. Thanks!
Ah, ok. In that case I’ve just managed to miss them a few times. My apologies.
I think a weekly roundup is possibly too much, given all the plates that you have spinning.
No worries, it happens! We did do a weekly progress report for years, but yes, it had to just be a list basically because there are so many projects on it. As a team, we like having comments for those that are moving along so that readers get a better idea of why that stage, or the project as a whole, are cool.
Can’t wait to get my hands on M20 Sorcerer! 😀 Any approximates on when it will be available? And should we expect a kickstarter similar to that for M20 corebook?
