EXIGG!
That’s Exalted: Exigents on IndieGoGo that is doing great! We started the crowdfunding last Tuesday and were funded in 40 minutes! As I write this we’re past $100,000 in funding and over 1000 backers – which is fantastic! Thanks to everyone who has backed already – we’re thrilled you made the jump over to IndieGoGo with us for this campaign!
As regular MMN blog readers know, we had a fair bit of trepidation when it came to moving this campaign over to IndieGoGo, so a super strong start really cheers our whole crew!
One of my favorite things about a crowdfunding campaign that takes off like this is how we can go back in and add additional special pledge reward tiers because all of the ones we started with have been taken already, and Exigents certainly has jumped right up and needed more! So we did add more of those extra special Reward Tiers for folks who want to participate even more than the average backer! We’re thrilled to do it!
Plus, we’re blasting through the Stretch Goals and adding extra content as we create a brand new Exalted supplement! Right now we’ve achieved:
- Exigents Expanded Content: Miracles of Divine Flame: Additional Charms for the four playable Exigents featured in the book — Strawmaiden Janest, the Puppeteer, the Architects, and the Sovereigns of Uluiru. These additional charms will be released as a supplemental companion PDF.
- Exigents Expanded Content: Great Forks Jumpstart: An introductory scenario designed to introduce new players to the game, using the four playable Exigents featured in the book in an adventure set in Great Forks, the City of Ten Thousand Temples where heroes seek out Exaltation and gods seek worthy champions.
- Exigents Expanded Content: The Chosen of Masks: A design seed for the Chosen of Masks, detailing her history and nature and providing traits and sample Charms for her magical masks to use as a beginning point for designing a full Charm set yourself.
- Exigents Expanded Content: Bearers of the Spark: A list of gods, both new and returning, who might serve as patrons to Exigents, with discussions of each god’s themes and how it might inform their Chosen.
- Exigents Expanded Content: The Thousand Venoms Mistress: A design seed for the Thousand Venoms Mistress, detailing the history and nature of the Chosen of Poison and providing traits and sample Charms to use as a beginning point for designing a full Charm set yourself.
- Exigents Expanded Content: Streets of Great Forks: A gazetteer of the City of Ten Thousand Temples that expands on its description in Exigents, exploring notable locations, cults, and figures of local interest in Great Forks that can be used in games for any type of Exalted.
And we’re not even a full week in, yet!
But, and you know there’s always a but, if you do know of other Exalted fans who might be interested in this first new Exalted type in decades – please do let them know we’re over at IndieGoGo and would love to have them join us! Here’s the link:

As May Changes To June…
So too do we say goodbye to our May celebration of Scion and all the Actual plays, Pathcasts, and sales. (In fact, here’s a reminder that the Scion 90% off sale only runs through May 31st, which is tomorrow as I write this. If you were interested and forgot – now’s the time!)
We do get to say hello to June, though, in just a couple days. And with that, June is a bit different than the last few months’ game line celebrations. First off, our game line focus for June is my Crossroads Continent 5e fantasy setting, which has only one project currently up on DTRPG! But it’s also the month of the Onyx Path Virtual Convention, so don’t worry, we have made plans.
We’re doing a big anniversary sale on DTRPG, Studio 2, and IPR that starts on Wednesday, June 1st. Lots of PDFs of all game lines will be 50% off, plus books, screens, and dice. And the Peoples of the Crossroads Continent PDF will be 90% Off all of June.
We early-on decided on the CRC for the same month as the OP Virtual Convention, so that we had the freedom to do all sorts of funky things during the Con and around the Con, as it really is a focal point for all of the fun of the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration.
And the Convention is less than TWO WEEKS away!
I’ve seen some folks online going back and forth on running games for the Con, and I totally understand that feeling. But, seriously, sign up and do it! You CAN DO IT!
Our Onyx Path crew will be on panels and running and playing in Actual Plays, and we really think that community-run games are so much in the spirit of what we’ve been doing these ten years that I can only repeat: DO IT!
(Plus, what we’ve been saying about you getting to charge cash money for the session so you can don the mantle of a professional GM/Storyteller/Storyguide, and also that beyond your portion of the proceeds we’re donating a portion to The Bodhanna Group – our friends who are fast becoming the authorities for using TTRPGs for therapeutic purposes! Onyx Path makes no money from your game – this all about you folks!)

Speaking of conventions, the saga of the bitter feud between Matthew Dawkins and Eddy Webb over their charity games during the SFWA online convention came to its inevitable conclusion over the weekend as both masters of gaming ran their respective games. Here are their comments:
From Matthew: On Friday I ran a session of They Came from Beneath the Sea! for the successful bidders of the SFWA auction. Their story took them to the creepy seaside town of Carnaby (which spends half its time underwater), where they encountered people infested with crabs, a suspect jar of pickled eggs, and a hydra living beneath the church crypt (who was also the town mayor). This Beneath the Sea! game definitely had its share of Beyond the Grave! scares and Cyclops’s Cave! monsters, which led to a lovely crossover one-shot everyone enjoyed!
From Eddy: In partnership with the SFWA, I offered seats for a Pugmire game, which I ran last night. I had written a Halloween-themed adventure for a convention last year, but I was sadly unable to run it due to a personal emergency. So I polished it up a bit and ran as “The Hound of Dusty Hill,” with the good dogs exploring Transylvania-Hound Manor. We had a lot of fun! One of the players was living in Germany, and he stayed up until 4am to play with us, which is real dedication! I’m looking forward to running this adventure again in future.
Sounds like a fun time was had by all, which is the whole point along with the charity, and now the two can go back to being best friends!
One more note concerning our June celebration of the Crossroads Continent: on this Friday’s Onyx Pathcast we’ll be broadcasting the first part of me running the first new CRC adventure to be available since White Wolf Magazine included The Search For the White Horse in the late eighties! This is also the first time I’ve been recorded running a VTT game, and I’m afraid to even listen!
Gulp!
But if you listen, and have some helpful feedback, I’d love to hear from you and what you thought. I’ll also be running this new adventure, called Down In The Hole, during the Onyx Path Virtual Con, so if you get a chance to watch then, I’d love to hear what you thought of that, as well!
I might have some “Making Of” notes to share about the adventure next week….
Something else popped up over the weekend – our friends at MST3K ran their 4th ad for They Came From Beneath the Sea!. We’ve all been happy with folks’ reactions to seeing Jonah, Tom Servo, and Crow crack wise while playing at playing They Came From Beneath the Sea!, and if you’ve missed them, there’s an ad in each of the first four experiments. This latest was Munchie! (Google it, and prepare to be stunned).
They’ve been super people to work with, and who knows what all our twisted brains may come up with?
Finally, Impish Ian let us know that June 3rd marks 20 years since the Players Guide to Ghelspad for Scarred Lands was published!
This was the sourcebook we at WW created that took the setting hints we scattered willy-nilly into the entries for the Creature Collection and pulled them together to create a cohesive fantasy world wrecked by the war between the gods and titans. Like with Creature Collection, the writing through art process was a marathon of explosive creative energy, and I’m pretty proud of how from all that chaos we were able to pull together one of the best settings of the d20 Era.
It’s really cool to talk with the creative teams working on Scarred Lands now (literally today as we discussed getting Dead Man’s Rust, the Scarred Lands mega-adventure book, ready for the printer) for Onyx Path, and how that wacky world we all contributed to inspired their games and creative works!
In ten more years, at Onyx‘s 20th anniversary, who knows who’ll be inspired to create new work? But that’s in the future. This year, I’m just happy to wrap up any MMN blog with our favorite tagline:
Ten Years, Many Worlds, One Path!
BLURBS!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Today in the US we celebrate Memorial Day, a holiday dedicated to those in uniform who died in service. We can only stand in gratitude and awe of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I haven’t signed up for Exigents yet, largely because of the new platform. Looking at the two preview chapters and the table of contents, there are four chapter devoted to specific Exigents. Without page numbers, it’s hard to tell how much of the book is devoted to creating an Exigent character versus fluff. With KickStarter, I could sign up and see what I was paying for before I was charged. That option is gone now.
You could always sign up at the $5 tier, which would give him access to the previews. Means you can upgrade your pledge later if you decide it’s for you, and it’s not much money to wait to be refunded if you cancel your pledge.
That option is, in fact, not gone.
IGG doesn’t have backer-only updates, so previews are public-facing. No signing up required. Anyone can look at the previews in the project updates. The first five chapters are currently available for viewing.
Ian,
Thank you very much – that’s really good to know (especially for future campaigns since I already backed Exigents).
