Kickstarter Krazy

Or something along those lines, anyway.

Rich is suffering from a power outage, what with Hurricane Sandy and all, so I thought I’d catch you up with where we’re at with the Deluxe W20 Kickstarter.

It’s got another fourteen hours as of this writing to run. We’ve obliterated our original goal of $85K (it took eleven and a half hours to get that much), and we just recently blew past $350,000. In doing so, we’ve hit a whole load of stretch goals, including new novels by Bill Bridges and Mike Lee, a new fiction anthology (When Will You Rage 2), a Wild West Expansion Pack (along with a free copy of Werewolf: The Wild West in PDF), a copy of the Werewolf Translation Guide, the option for people getting at least one book to add on the Storyteller’s Screen, oh, and the White Howlers Tribebook.

To give you a bit of an idea how chaotic (in a good way) this Kickstarter’s been, I said I’d write a White Howlers Tribebook at about 7pm British time. By 10pm, we’d hit the stretch goal.

We’re working to get all these books made as fast as we can, and we’re doing them because our fans are incredible.

Check out the Kickstarter if you haven’t yet. I’m sure you’ll agree.

  1. Hope everyone caught in the storm is doing all right!

And I do agree – the kickstarter’s been incredible to watch! Keep up the great work!

      • Yeah, I know what you mean! I’ve been checking back all day just to see those numbers jump. Don’t know WHY it seems so exciting, but a good game is indeed what it feels like.

Must be all the fans cheering wildly every time a new milestone is passed.

    • A silly question, but with this KickStarter having been warned months in advance, warning a week before it happened, and lasting 31 days, it seems peculiar to me that people are just finding out about it hours after it ended.
By what means did you finally discover it? I’d really like to know as a matter of marketing curiosity to try to figure out what corners of the fandom we missed and how we can reach them next time.

        • I think there might be value in some sort of mail alert when news is posted so all the little shape shifters can get their noses into it if they forget to check the blog often πŸ™‚ I personally want to see the CB and ahem…. Breed book kick starter (please give me more bastet!….including ceilican goodies with the fae? >.>) but I forget to check sites until someone tells me to since Im in college and homework is a mountain I gotta climb.

      • Actually I have to say I almost missed it also. I’ve only been looking at this blog for my news, and I (perhaps I missed it) didn’t see any word about the kickstarter being up until the October 16’th posting about the Jess Hartley Interview.

I knew it was happening I was just waiting, looking here specifically for word on when it was launching. That said I did get word on the 16th and got my book in plenty of time but my heart does go out to those who didn’t know.

Really I think this is something we should all be looking at. We should be making way more noise about all of this as we continue on. Get in touch with old friends, swing by old haunts, make sure we don’t have people left behind next time.

        • I do the same and miss old and new WOD news all the time. At least now I have the link to the Onyx Path site. Hopefully it won’t happen to me again. I didn’t miss the kickstarter, but that’s because I stumbled on it almost by accident. I had not heard about it at all. Good thing for WW it happened early enough that I could organise and buy 5 of them with friends.

      • I seriously only found the kickstarter an hour after it ended, and only because of the announcement on the blog. The forums had been down for quite some time and the soonest anything about it seems to be mentioned on here in a post of its own was about halfway through. I’ve been keeping my eye out for preorder dates but I’m not an active, regular participant in White Wolf’s community. I certainly would have benefited from some kind of alert, and this comment thread is literally the first place I’ve seen the onyx path website mentioned.

  2. Can I put in a vote for our $375,000 stretch goal achievement as ‘And CB20 will be doubled in length so we can cram even more awesome into it!’

Seriously though, well done – and I for one am looking forward to the rest of the W20 materials still to come.

    • Oh man. You’ve no idea how on board I’d be with that. I really hope we can somehow make that book be bigger. I really wish we can make the lost breeds section bigger. Seeign as they’ll probably never be covered again.

    • Heh. It’s already longer than we thought it would be, and I’ve got some great ideas for stretch goals to expand it some more.

And who knows, we might get a Changing Breeds cookbook as well!

          • I was thinking more of breed books for the lost breeds since I already have the breed books for the unlost ones πŸ™‚ That said, if there’s enough new or complementary information to warrant new breed books, I wouldn’t mind buying that either.

      • Great news! The outline/page count advertised earlier seemed much too short – less than the 220 of the PGttCB (which didn’t spend NEARLY enough time on )! πŸ˜‰

Also looking forward to the sections on the lost breeds and the… well, everything else that’ll be in there, really. Let’s not kid ourselves. Here’s hoping the CB20 will be as successful as the W20!

Silly wordpress, interpreting the original angle-bracket version as though I were putting in HTML tags…

  3. I’m just extremely sad that I missed this. I didn’t follow the blog, but I’ve been a WtA and White Wolf lover for a number of years. I got linked to the Kickstarter with 10 hours left, and due to my lack of a credit card (and the fact that the post office, and my chance to buy a prepaid credit card, wouldn’t open before it ended) I missed out. Looks like I’ll never get my chance at the awesome deluxe version, plus all those extras. Sigh.
