No Fear Here! [Monday meeting Notes]

Hi, all! Dixie here, taking over for the Monday Meeting notes while Rich is on vacation. Who lets him take vacations anyway? No, no, it’s actually well-deserved family time. One of the perks of being a small company who all work from home is the freedom to do things like go away for a couple of days or take a day here and there just because you want to. Rich, as our hardworking boss, probably handles more emails and paperwork every day than I do in a month, so I guess we’re fine letting him go to the shore for a bit.

We’re still partnered with the Bodhana Group for their ongoing (and fully funded!) Branch Riders Kickstarter, which you really should check out! Jack, Doug, Eddy, and the rest of the Branch Riders team have put together a really cool world and system, which we talked about on last week’s Onyx Pathcast. So if you’re on the fence, go give it a listen or watch a panel or actual play on YouTube! As always, you’re getting the manuscript in full if you back the Kickstarter, so you can check out the game along the way.

Speaking of the Bodhana Group, who just got back from Origins Game Fair along with our very own Danielle Lauzon and Matt McElroy (did you see anyone there? Tell us in the comments!), they put on an event every year that’s become really special to me. I’m, of course, talking about SAVE Against Fear, their yearly convention and professional conference!

SAVE is a super-cool, very chill, weekend of gaming and talks that happens every year in late fall in York, PA. I’ve not attended the professional conference aspect of it except as a moderator, since I’m not a therapeutic professional, but I can wholeheartedly endorse the convention side of things as a three-time (soon to be four!) attendee. All the vendors, volunteers, and gaming industry professionals I’ve met there have been super lovely, and the Bodhana Group is actively committed to making sure the convention stays a safe space all weekend for everyone.

All proceeds for the event go to the Bodhana Group as a nonprofit and enable them to continue their community- and therapy-oriented work, which is also a good reason to come say hi! Rich and I should be there again this year, so come hang out and play some games if you can make it to the show Nov. 8-10.

While I’ve got the metaphorical floor, I also just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has purchased, read, or reviewed the Curseborne ashcan! That was a real labor of love from the team, and we’re all so pleased it’s out in the world.

One last thing…

Per Ian A. A. Watson regarding our forum issues from June 23rd:

vBulletin has assured us that the hackers would not have had access to the forum database via the methods they used, which only compromised a single account. So everyone’s data should be secure, but it’s always a good idea to change passwords regularly, so we’re recommending people do that regardless once forums are reopened, just to be safe. Passwords should optimally be unique — not something you use on multiple sites — and not something someone could guess by knowing you. Services like LastPass can generate and store complex unique passwords, and browsers like Chrome can do this natively as well.

We’re going to roll back to a previous forum backup over the coming days. While anything posted on the 23rd will be lost, it’ll restore the threads that were maliciously deleted during that time.

Thank you for your patience.

Thanks all for your patience, and for hanging out with us across the

Many Worlds, One Path!
