Remember, Remember, the First of November…[Monday Meeting Notes]

I know, I know…but Guy Fawkes Day is all the way at the end of the week on Friday, Nov 5.

I needed a blog title todays!

Hope everybody had a great Halloween and had fun times and costumes. And lots of candy!

Nov 1, then, always seems like stepping back from the world of the macabre and fantastic.

But it doesn’t have to be. We’re still very busy putting together projects that touch on a very wide variety of worlds both fantastic and macabre!

While we don’t have a crowd-funding project going right now, we do have many projects in all stages of our project schedule that were born in the fiery depths of the Kickstarter campaign forges. Just last week, backers of our KSs received these Backer PDFs for review and to provide them with a chance to send us errata:

  • Tales of Heroes: the Scion Fiction Anthology
  • Dawn: the Trinity Continuum: Aeon Novella
  • V5 Forbidden Religions

With over a dozen more just in the Art Direction to Proofing stages!

But lest folks think that we’re only popping out KS and KS-related projects, we also sent out the Advance PDF for the visionaries who pre-ordered M20 Rich Bastard’s Guide to Magick last week. Which will be available to folks who didn’t pre-order this Weds!

That’s all just last week, so expect all of those projects to start showing up with their PoD versions for sale on coming Wednesdays. Which is our “on sale” day and has been for years. Yep, every Wednesday for years and years we have offered folks new and exciting worlds to visit.

Or at least, commemorate with t-shirts and journals from our RedBubble store!

Scion: Demigod art by Farri Lensen

We’re not running any sales right now with our sales partners, I’ve been told sadly by our Operations person, but I hear that we will once again be offering some sort of doggie-discount for Wolfenoote starting on the 16th and the legendary DTRPG Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale starts on the 24th. More on those as they get closer.

Yes, we’re pretty thrilled with the sheer number of amazing projects that are coming through the pipeline, and we expect a bunch to pop out of Editing soon and into Mirthful Mike’s waiting mitts for Layout. We know folks have been waiting for our logjam to clear up, and really appreciate everybody hanging in there.

While we’re working hard on your favorite awaited projects, a whole bunch of other folks around the world are also working hard on more ways for people to enjoy those same projects. We expect to be able to announce very soon solid VTT product news for a variety of game lines in a variety of venues, more news on our sponsorship of the MST3K Gizmoplex and of a finished script for the Scion TV show pitch, and more.

But we have to have those things all set and do the announcements up proper.

They Came From Beyond the Grave! art by Luis Sanz

A few of the non-gamebook things I can underline here because we have already been talking about them, are two vid series and a series of vids. The first, is our own Storypath Showcase series that highlights and explains our Storypath-based gamelines like Scion, Trinity Continuum, They Came From…!, and Dystopia Rising: Evolution. In fact, the next episode of the Showcase for DR:E is this coming Saturday night on our Twitch channel.

And here’s a prior one for TC:Aeon on our Youtube channel:
Storypath Showcase: Trinity Continuum Aeon – Session Two: https://youtu.be/IwRsap2672c

Another fantastic series is coming from Devil’s Luck Gaming for Exalted 3rd and Essence called Challenge the Fates starts on November 14th, and you can check out their trailer right here: https://twitter.com/TeamDevilsLuck/status/1453704639992434695

As you can tell from the trailer, the Devil’s Luck crew love Exalted and do phenomenal work on characterization, costumes, make-up, and fantastic stories. They are fun to watch as both entertainment and to get a feel for how Exalted 3rd and Essence are as games. Highly recommended!

As for the series of vids, let us start here with a link to the first: a public service ad extolling the wonders of the city of Cascade, the newest, most modern city in North America!

Cascade is the great city that is the setting for Trinity Continuum: Anima, our newest of the core books for the Trinity Continuum. We’ll have more to reveal about the city, and its inhabitants’ favorite virtual entertainment later this week. Keep an eye out!

(But if you want to know more even faster, check out this link to an actual play of TC: Anima with developer Eddy Webb, and writer Dixie Cochran, among others, on the Polyhedron Podcast:
https://youtu.be/ahL_PqMtDvE )

Totally different thing next:

I was reminded in our Monday Meeting today, and am passing the reminder onto you time-conscious folk, that this Saturday night we also “fall back” from Daylights Savings Time here in the US. So now we can get all confused about time-zones again for our Zoom meetings!

N!WE art by Digital Art Chefs

Finally, Nov 1 is the day after 31 days of Inktober, the artist-driven event where you do an ink drawing every day of the month. I’ve participated the last four years, and it is somewhat relevant because all 124 of those illustrations were of characters and creatures from the Crossroads Continent gameline.

To say that doing a piece of art a day, day in and day out, is grueling, doesn’t quite hit the marathon-like nature of the event. But even with that, Nov 1 is still a weird day without doing a drawring. Bit of a let-down, bit of a relief. If you followed my efforts last month on FB or Twitter – thanks so much and I hope you enjoyed seeing the monsters each day as much as I enjoyed making them.

Because make no mistake, no matter how tough it was to do each piece once a day, it was also a blast to depict these parts of the CRC. Here’s a group shot of some of them:

What can we say, lots of stuff for:

This Wednesday the Advance PDF for M20 Rich Bastard’s Guide to Magick takes a private jet over to DTRPG!

Spend it while you’ve got it.

This Mage 20th Anniversary Edition sourcebook expands on the mystique of the elite with an exploration of how the real movers and shakers operate when you throw magick into their world as well.

The Rich Bastard’s Guide to Magick contains:

An examination of money and mage society, exploring what it means to have magick and wealth at your fingertips.

Money Magic: viewing the technocratic concepts of Hypereconomics and the Primal Utility Sphere through a non-technocracy POV. Includes new money-based magickal effects.

Movers and Shakers: Organizations, private clubs, elite locations, and the sample characters you might meet in such places.

High-Ticket Items: A collection of the best talismans, instruments, devices, and wonders money can buy (or can buy you access to), plus costly enhancements for sanctums, laboratories, chantries, etc.

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

News relevant to a bunch of you: today is the 22nd anniversary of the release of Hunter: The Reckoning. That’s really quite a while ago, folks! Wow- the ol’ orange flames, our most totally subtle cover! Somewhat fittingly, today is All Saints Day, and Day of the Innocents, The first day of Day of the Dead or El Dia de los Muertos celebration.

  1. Have had Rich Bastards Guide prepaid for some time, looking forward to it, but today is Thursday and drive thru does not list it anywhere atm. I guess there is some issue?

    Reply
    • I really don’t. People will be able to back the Anima KS and receive the text as it exists by the time the KS is over, but Assassins is going to go right to Advance PDF, so timing-wise those two only look close together. Aether is only at a stage I reviewing the text, so later than both of the other two.

  2. I’m tremendously excited about Anima, Assassin, and Aether! I’ll eagerly support Onyx Path along whatever funding / distribution ends up working for each of them – the OP crew are good people making awesome things and I want to thank you all for it. Especially for Aether. When it was announced it felt almost like it was tailor made just for me. Looking forward to everything Trinity!

  3. I have thoroughly enjoyed how each of the books that you guys have put out for the Trinity line have included things that are usable for any game. For example, the Tasty Bits for Pets allows for the mechanics of how you can have…well..a pet. Even though the book was made in regards to Aeon, you could still use it for Aberrant to make Krypto or even use it to make a companion for your Core detective. Les Fantomes gives great tips on how to handle heists. Adventure! is set to give Field Conditions and some interesting additions to Crafting. Aberrant gave us Scale and also gave us goliath rules. I cannot wait to see what tweaks Anima gives us to use for our other Trinity games.

    • Thanks! That sort of usability is exactly what we are trying to provide with the Trinity Continuum, as well as giving folks a reasonable way to explain how their Continuum isn’t exactly the same as someone else’s but they are canonically both correct! So mix ‘n’ match at will!
