First up: Scion 2e‘s Kickstarter is in it’s last week, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support and interest in our little project! Above, you’ll find one of the new pieces of art (this one by artist Kayla Woodside) we’ve already commissioned for the book, and we’ll have a few more previews out before the KS is over on Saturday!
During an interview with developer Neall Raemonn Price and myself that you can find here: http://mithicalentertainment.com/please-gods-interview-richard-thomas-neall-price-scion-2nd-edition/ I gave this answer:
“With just under a week left, do you have any last minute plans/offers for driving the final stretch goals?”
RT: Why yes we do! We have more stories for the anthology, more sections for the Companion, and more creatures for the Bestiary. As soon as we get back approved designs and pricing for the Scion 2e Dice, we’ll offer that as a Stretch Goal unlock for adding on to your pledge, we have another dice/character sort of thing that isn’t like those dice in the offing, and if we get to a certain pledge level, there’s a little community content idea I’ve been interested in putting forward. And what better place than during this KS?
Just gonna leave it there, because there are several things in there that we’re going to unpack during these last exciting and wild days of the Scion 2e Kickstarter that will have an impact on how Onyx Path is set to deliver our worlds to ya’ll.
(Sorry, I lived in Atlanta for over a dozen years total, and ya’ll is a really useful word and shorter than my native Philly “youse guys”.)
It is October, and we are nigh approaching the scariest time of the year, I’m told. Well, this year we’re doing our part to add to that aura of macabre menace with the V20 Endless Ages fiction anthology.
This is a project Fast Eddy Webb and I cooked up when we were discussing what the next edition of Vampire: the Masquerade should feel like, and we started in on how each previous edition had it’s own feel, themes, and issues it wanted players to explore. Eddy leaped up (I mean, we were on the phone so I assume that noise was him jumping up) and immediately pitched an anthology wherein we’d present a story or two specifically written to evoke each edition of VtM.
There are 18 stories divided into four sections that correspond to Vampire: the Masquerade 1st, 2nd, Revised, and V20 editions, and Mirthful Mike Chaney subtly laid out each section using the header fonts of that era, on top of a beautiful layout already. A perfect way to revisit those times, and to prepare for Halloween and someday… 5th Edition.
We’ll be releasing excerpts and commentary all next week up to Halloween, and releasing the book on Weds the 26th in PDF and PoD formats, so keep an eye out!
And as a teaser, here’s some art from Justin Achilli’s The Prince’s Gambit casual card game that is currently in position to be our first card game Kickstarter later this year.
Finally, here is just a bit of a peak at the artist reference I’ve been drawin’ up for our Pugmire artists as the Mirthful One prepares to assign the art out. This is only a selection of the Backer Reward NPCs that we’re including both in the art and in the world of Pugmire itself, but I think it shows a fair bit of the range of dog society (and one cat).
(So please, PLEASE, don’t message me wondering where your guys are in the picture – there are still A LOT of dogs and cats not in this line-up that will be pictured as per your backer Reward Tiers. Thanks!)
And with that, I’m out of here – see you in the comments section!
BLURBS!
KICKSTARTER!
The KS campaign for Scion 2nd Edition currently has 3244 backers and $258, 238 in pledges. Besides the Scion 2e Companion, filled with additional pantheons, expanded or alternative rules, and other goodies, and the Scion 2e Fiction Anthology, we’ve also started using the Stretch Goals to create a Scion Bestiary of creatures and antagonists, with the first section being all about giants! Plus see above for some hints as to even more Stretch Goals we have planned here in THE LAST WEEK!
ON SALE!
Looking for our Deluxe or Prestige Edition books? Here’s the link to the press release we put out about how Onyx Path is now selling through Indie Press Revolution: https://theonyxpath.com/press-release-onyx-path-limited-editions-now-available-through-indie-press-revolution/
Tilt Cards to go with the Chronicles of Darkness Condition Cards are now for sale at DriveThruCards! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/194464/Chronicles-of-Darkness-Tilt-Cards
Tilts are a unified way of applying circumstances to both characters and scenes during violent encounters. Tilts are mechanically similar to Conditions, but they affect characters and scenes in combat only. Outside combat, use Conditions instead.
Tilts do not give players Beats when they end, but the effects of a Tilt can easily cause a Condition. For instance, a character in a fight gets a handful of road salt flung into his eyes and receives the Blinded Tilt. When combat ends, this shifts to the Blind Condition.
These Tilt Cards are a handy and elegant way to keep track of and incorporate Tilts into your Chronicle with each of the 21 cards featuring a single Tilt.
With a howl, W20 Kinfolk: A Breed Apart‘s Advance PDF is now on sale on DTRPG! Awooooo! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/194952/W20-Kinfolk-A-Breed-Apart
Born to Run
The Garou are born of two kinds: humans and wolves. These are their Kinfolk — those “of the blood.” These special people — whether of two legs or four — carry in them the hope of the Garou: the promise of future generations. Although Garou are born to Kinfolk, nobody knows they’re different until they undergo their First Change. Until such a blessed (or cursed) time, they are just like their more mundane Kin. Most live as humans, suffering the foibles of humanity, all the while hoping they’re secretly special, that they harbor the wolf within. Even though that wolf will never howl for the majority of Kin, they’ve still got a vital role in the war, aiding the effort from behind the lines.
Kinfolk: A Breed Apart contains:
- Overview of the Kinfolk, both kenning and callow, including some of the Fellowships founded by Kinfolk to aid the Garou cause — and to protect themselves from their cousins’ Rage.
- Character creation for playing Kinfolk, including new Skills, Backgrounds, Merits and Flaws, as well as special Kin rites, Gifts, and fetishes.
- Guidelines for running Kinfolk chronicles, as well as in-depth information on the Kin-Fetches, the unique spirits used by Garou to watch over their distant cousins and warn the tribes if one of them should undergo the First Change.
NOTE: This is the Advance PDF version. A final PDF version and PoD versions will be available at a later date. If you have purchased this Advance PDF, you will be automatically updated to the final PDF and receive a link to enable you to purchase the PoD at a discount designed so that your total price matches our usual PDF and Print combo offer.

TODAY’S REASON TO DRINK: Because it tastes. So. Good.
A while back, Matt mentioned something about us seeing a preview from the Dark Eras Companion. Is there any chance someone could poke him or one of the other writers? I’m profoundly curious about pretty much everything in it.
Mmmm Forsaken by Rome is awesome. Is that spoiler enough? 😉
#mightbebiased
I see a whole bunch of Beast and EX3 stuff has moved through the pipeline. Good deal!
Any chance we’ll be seeing some Forsaken books entering the pipeline with pitching season coming up? ^_^
The Scion KS has been a lot of fun. It’s too bad the dice are a stretch goal and not just an add-on. I’m guessing that the cost of production is too much to be covered by the (usually) low cost of add-ons. Sometimes we have to remember that as awesome as your projects are, you’re running a business and it has expenses that have to be paid.
Before the sell-off of the White Wolf name by CCP, there was talk of a Masquerade 4th edition but above you mention a 5th edition. Is V20 now considered the 4th edition?
Something I would like to see moving forward would be more books for existing lines rather than new lines. There’s certainly enough 1st Edition material that would be nice to have updated and some of the “short run” series could use some fleshing out. I mean, Geist only had the core book and “Book of the Dead.” It definitely needs some love once a 2nd edition is developed.
The dice will be an add-on once the stretch goal is hit.
Our past Kickstarters with dice have used stretch goals to “unlock” them, after which point they are available as add-ons.
Yes, WWP considers V20 to be the 4th edition, so the new edition they’re creating moving forward is the fifth edition. Early teasers have used a “VV” branding.
This is the first OPP KS I’ve participated in that I was planning on getting the dice (I was involved in C20 but only got the PDF) so I didn’t realize the dice were a stretch goal first and an add-on second. Thanks for explaining that one for me. 🙂
I’ve missed those teasers. I’ve been to the website once or twice and signed-up for the e-newsletter but all I saw was the convention schedule (none of which I’ll be able to attend).
Will there be two concurrent editions of Masquerade or will OPP stop the V20 line once 5th edition is launched?
Guuys, I’ve got two previews questions.
Are you going to preview yet another full pantheon before the ks ends?
And are you going to send backers the entire text of the book once it enters development,or should we wait for the book to be 100% ready before we see it in it’s entirety?
I don’t know, that’s up to Neall and Rose. Right now, the plan is to release the full books as Backer PDFs first.
Okay, those previews really make me want to get my hands on Endless Ages!
Arms of the Chosen out of 2nd Draft! Awww yeah. After… *checks* a year and a half, it looks like maybe we’ll get it before Christmas after all 🙂 Hooray
Can you say who the writers are for Lore of Bloodlines? Which author is covering which Bloodline?
