Michele threw this little tidbit from the upcoming They Came from Witchford Academy! in my direction. Enjoy!
It’s a new day! The bell demon screams, and all lessons begin. In a class where a vast stained-glass window depicting a witch holding a furious dragon at bay blocks the sight of woods around the castle, young mages dabble with their cauldrons under the stern gaze of their Potions & Alchemy teacher.
Having lost sight of the recipe as a surge of bubbles turns into butterflies, the Enthusiast refuses to admit defeat. Eager to imbibe a potion far beyond their abilities, they drop ingredients in the cauldron following their heart more than their common sense. As the liquid changes into a swirling disaster of multicolored hues and explodes in their face, the Enthusiast laughs. They’re loving every moment of this spectacular mistake.
The Guardian mixes their potion with the same care and heart they apply to everything. Little gremlins carry bottles and ingredients to them in a rowdy yet enthusiastic line that stretches across the room. A patient ghost turns the pages while the wizard’s hands are busy. The Guardian’s preparing a concoction to apply to a sick oak they spotted in the forest.
Whatever the Hellion’s trying to obtain from their efforts, they’re not supposed to. The potion they’re making rumbles and fizzles with each new ingredient, its destructive combinations mixing with chaotic intent. The Hellion has a bone to pick with a castle gargoyle who confiscated their illegal fireworks, and they decided turning the rooftops into a swamp would be a fitting revenge.
The Prodigy’s potion goes above any assignment students of their year can be expected to create. Any mistake or inaccuracy would doom its realization, but neither will happen. Actually, the book’s instructions failed to account for details the Prodigy knew better than to ignore, so they improved the recipe with their personal touch. This isn’t an exam, sure, but there’s no excuse for mediocrity.
People steer clear from the Sinister’s cauldron. Placed in the darkest corner of the class, their potion illuminates their visage with an eldritch light. The Sinister reaches out for an ingredient from their personal pouch and throws it in, the resulting reaction unleashing a cloud of smoke in the shape of a grinning skull. The witch laughs, and all their classmates feel a shiver down their spine.
Is this part of ‘They Came from the Cyclops’ Cave’ Kickstarter, or is it an independent game that’ll have it’s own Kickstarter?
It’s a sourcebook for Cyclops’s Cave, much as Camp Murder Lake was for Beyond the Grave and Danger Zone is for CLASSIFIED. None of these expansions were part of any crowdfunding campaigns.
