Hey Trinity Players! Here’s Your Guide! [Monday Meeting Notes]

That’s right – we’re going live Tuesday, the 28th – tomorrow as I write this – at 2pm Eastern US time with the Trinity Continuum Player’s Guide on Crowdfunded By BackerKit!

Which seems like a pretty simple and direct announcement, but let me peel off a few layers and get into more detail on what it means!

Most of our crowdfunding campaigns go live on a Tuesday or a Thursday at 2pm Eastern. We’ve found that those two days seem to be when most folks are around to get a good crowd of backers excited on that first day, and we try and start at 2pm Eastern US time as a mid-point time that is neither too early nor too late for the majority of our community.

That’s not to say that the timing is prefect for everybody, and sorry to all of you that it doesn’t work for – it’s the best we can do to give the most folks a chance to jump in at the beginning.

Next, we come to the project itself: the Trinity Continuum Player’s Guide! It’s a fantastic book with wonderful uses for anyone who enjoys the core Trinity Continuum books, and Talents as they exist through all of the TC eras! Plus, there’s sections on outer space, inner space, the ocean, and even other dimensions!

Here’s Ian Watson, the TC Content guru with some thoughts:

“The Trinity Continuum has always had a lot of potential, both as a design space and also for the kind of adventures that could be played. There’s a lot in my head which is canonically part of the Continuum, but has never been put to page, or has only existed as an offhand mention, or by implication.

Well, some of that potential is now made manifest in black and white for all of you to enjoy. The Trinity Continuum Player’s Guide adds a ton of options for Talent-focused games as well games across the breadth of the Continuum. This book should be a jolt of Inspiration to players and Storyguides alike to radically expand their games to touch other worlds, other times, and even other dimensions.”

The gang on last week’s Onyx Pathcast gave even more preview info about what’s in the TCPG as they chatted with Danielle, which included:

  • Interdimensional travel
  • What else can Talents do?
  • Heists!
  • Gifts and Edges, etc.
  • Vehicles, gear, etc.
  • Draculas

Now, on this Week’s Pathcast Danielle is walking Dixie and Matthew through making Trinity characters using options from the Player’s Guide. You can check out the whole thing Friday on PodBean (or your favorite podcast host) and really get the inside info on how the awesome new material can add new character options to your game.

Your Guide To More Monday Meeting Stuff!

Meanwhile, deep below the surface of a ruined world, The World Below continues to be previewed by Matthew. Last week’s was all about what happened to “The World Above”, at least as much as anybody Below knows about it! You can read it here: https://theonyxpath.com/the-world-below-what-became-of-the-world-above/

This topic was the winner of a blog poll, and last week’s poll is whether to feature two of the Callings (two of the playable Paths in The World Below, acting as a combination of belief, profession, and destiny) or two of the Peoples (your heritage might influence your cultural outlook in The World Below, so here we present two of the peoples available for play in this game).

Keep an eye out this week for which of these two topics Matthew will be revealing!

Quick reminder that you only have until the end of month (actually the end of this week?) to take advantage of a great sale on a variety of our physical stuff from IPR!

Coming from a different direction, and worth mentioning because it’s something we keep pushing through Amazon, we have two new Kindle books going live this week. Check out Trinity Continuum: Terat and The Hollow Courts on Kindle in the Kindle store!

Did I mention they’re on Kindle?

Now For Something Completely Different: A Contest!

In fact, it’s a TikTok contest!

First, a little recent history: around the holidays last year, a couple/three months ago, we found out about a bunch of TikToks that were about a wide variety of our games. They ran the gamut of rules commentary, to folks dressed up as characters, to silly ones; they were a lot of fun! We’ve seen more since that initial time, and we thought that maybe we could encourage more folks to create and post them.

Hence, a contest. Here’s Matthew to describe it:

“Due to the successful trend that swelled during December and January, where folks were doing lip synching and short vignettes videos over on TikTok and YouTube for a slew of our games, we’d love to see something like that again and are running a competition to support it! From now until April 30th, any short videos you upload with the hashtag onyxpath and the name of the game you’re showing off will be entered into a competition to win $150 worth of our books! Videos relating to Scion, Trinity, They Came From, and Realms of Pugmire are the ones we’d love to see more than any other, so get creating your videos and we’ll show them off as they get uploaded before announcing the winner at the beginning of May!”

As you might notice from Matthew, this is really any form of posted short videos – not just TikTok. (We felt it best to expand where creators can post, for a lot of reasons, but mostly so folks have options).

So jump right in and start makin’ some shorts!

Finally, just a note that as much as I love showing off the art process, there ain’t no sketches this week. Our cover art sketches with notes for our TC: Aegis cover artist went out last week, so I’m onto other stuff now – like the symbol for Scion‘s Once and Future book. But none of that’s ready for folks to check out.

There’s lots more to come, we’re only finishing the first quarter of 2023. We have so much more fun to share with all of you who are with us as we visit:

You can check on its progress with the monthly round-up blog post if it doesn’t appear on a weekly update. Not appearing doesn’t mean that nothing is happening with a project, just that it hasn’t moved to another stage or that the work is continuing but not at a point that we’re commenting on it. Hope that helps!
