Might As Well Jump! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Go ‘head and JUMP!

Jump for the Curseborne Jumpstart: The Wolf You Feed – on BackerKit starting on this Tuesday the 21st at 2pm EDT for ONLY TWO WEEKS!

Which is why we say…

JUMP!

(Because we’re keeping this one fast and sprightly!)

Here’s dev Eddy with a message giving a bit more info on the contents to start us off the day before the campaign gets jumping!

The lightning-fast crowdfunder for physical versions of the Curseborne Jumpstart starts tomorrow! It’s bigger than our usual jumpstarts, giving you everything you need to play a slice of Curseborne with The Wolf You Feed, an introductory adventure which follows an investigation into the disappearance of Rosa Rivers (which can also be used for Curseborne if you have the full rulebook). Also, if you loved the five iconic characters from the Curseborne Ashcan, the jumpstart will have updated and expanded versions of those characters in beautiful spreads with all the information players need. Go now! Hurry hurry hurry!

As to why we decided to make this a two-week campaign, well, one reason is that we’ve been doing month-long campaigns for years. That makes a lot of sense for new settings and new rulebooks, and for deluxe editions, so we’re not turning our backs on the 30-day campaigns.

In fact, keep an eye out for the Exalted Essence Storyteller’s Guide month-long campaign coming next!

So, while the Curseborne Jumpstart is actually a fair number of pages bigger than a lot of our Jumpstarts and is jam-packed with all the stuff Eddy mentions above, it seemed like a great candidate for giving the shorter duration campaign a go.

Plus, as we were getting quotes for the traditional printing, the printer who is doing the trad printing for Curseborne itself mentioned that they could print the CB Jumpstart with the main book – which would give us a huge jump on releasing both!

As part of the reason is the printing, another part of the reason is the shipping. While we haven’t done a press release or similar for this, we have been trying out a new shipper for our crowdfunder rewards based in the UK. Exalted Exigents was the first full ship-out for them, and so far we have expectations that they will be handling the UK and EU rewards for us as a regular thing!

Plus, that means lower shipping rates for pledges to the UK and the EU for any of our crowdfunders yet to ship out! While we can’t change any additional taxes and fees your home countries may impose, we were able to lower the base shipping costs a fair bit, as you can imagine for not having to ship from the US!

If you pledged for a physical book during any of our pending crowdfunded books, and are in the UK or the EU, the shipping costs James estimated _during_ those campaigns should be a lot less when you’re actually charged, and if you’ve been holding off on pledging for physical copies because of the shipping costs, you might want to upgrade to get a trad printed book!

I’m sure James will be working on changing those individual estimates soon, but you can do some early comparison of the differences in the shipping estimates he’s prepared for the Curseborne Jumpstart when the campaign page goes live tomorrow at 2PM EDT on BackerKit!

Plus plus, those same UK shippers will also be soliciting retailers in the UK for our books so any of you folks in the UK who have wanted us to have more representation in stores in your country – we are amping that up!

I’m using a lot of plusses this week! Must be all the added goodness I’m trying to let you in on!

about as magical as i am mirthful

Mirthful Mike was juggling a bunch of last-minute design and art direction things leading up to today’s Monday Meeting, so can’t really blame him for putting his Mirthful sobriquet aside for a tad today. Some days, and meetings, are just like that.

One of the things he was actually happy about was the news that proofs from the traditional printer for They Came From the RPG Anthology! will be arriving this week – that’s super-fast and much-appreciated!

Yep, TCFtRPG Anthology! is our next crowdfunded book to get traditionally printed and then out to backers! Mostly because it had a very simple single book campaign, which makes it a lot less likely to be impacted by tariffs or other shipping complications. We still need to be careful and cagey with fulfilling our crowdfunders, but as you read above, we have made some progress and maneuvers!

In other news: we just finished prepping the Branch Riders Facilitator’s Guide, which is a small companion book to the game that’s primarily for people who are looking for how to best use the therapeutic aspects the Bodhana Group built into it. And as usual, here’s Jolly Jack Berkenstock with more Branch Riders and Bodhana news:

Greetings Branch Riders—an important missive from The Nexus…

Wow, this ride continues to be strong, and we have some great Branch Riders shares.  We had a very eventful ride.  We finished two great episodes of some podcasts with more in the pipe.  Last week we hosted the second episode of Expanding the Realms on the Onyx Path Twitch channel. We invited James Kirk, member of the design team (Captain on deck) to the show where he and Jack discussed Gifts, our resolution system and the Conditions damage system.  This week, on Tuesday at 8PM EST, we will continue our series and discuss Blight, how to make your own, and the Exposure Tracker. But we will also discuss the first of our nine total settings: the home away from realms of the Branch Riders, the Nexus!  Please join us and spread the word.  Join us live at:  https://www.twitch.tv/theonyxpath  Same Branch time, Same Branch Channel!

This past Saturday we closed out our series with Roll2Heal by having Jack join the crew on Twitch to debrief the actual play and review the system overall.  Roll2Heal is a nonprofit that The Bodhana has partnered with, focusing on the use of role playing games for positive mental health and developing camaraderie for veterans, first responders and medical professionals.  We discussed what the crew enjoyed about the system and the actual play and they offered interesting suggestions for adaptations we might consider.  Some of the cool ideas were some exercises for character backstoriues and some suggestions for distance ranges for those who use maps and minis.  It was a joy engaging the system with a new audience and as we say in Bodhana: Play, Learn, and Expand!  You can catch the rewatch of the series by going to their Twitch channel at:  https://www.twitch.tv/roll2heal_table_talk

In other news for Branch Riders, we have our second and hopefully final pass on the Faciitator’s Guide, a companion book specifically for those who are using the game for intentional use in classrooms, therapy sessions and skill building.  More word soon on when backers at that level can expect their copies and of course when you can order it through DriveThru RPG!

We extend our extreme thanks to all of the staff and attendees of MEPACon, a convention we attended this past weekend in Breinigsville, PA. We vended and brought many people into the world of Bodhana but more importantly to the Nexus.  We recruited a very large number of people to the system and any opportunity we have to talk about Branch Riders and share our unique system with others is a Gift in itself. Happy riding everybody and let’s always remember: There are… Eight Realms… One Mission!

Just when I shared some screen shots of the upcoming Scion Nexus on Demiplane last week, we heard there’s a new Scion Actual Play going on! Tales of the Pantheons is on YouTube, and funnily enough, Matthew has links to the first two sessions below in the Onyx Path Media section of The Blurbs!

We have some exciting news for Slarecian Vault Community Content creators!  As of now, we have unlocked the 5.2 SRD for use with the Slarecian Vault. Provided you follow the guidelines presented in the FAQ, you can now convert material to 5.2 SRD compatibility! This is a huge opportunity to bring material from 5e SRD releases, 3.x releases, or your own Scarred Lands creations in line with the 5.2 SRD. Remember that only Ghelspad and Fenrilik are unlocked for the Slarecian Vault at this time. For full details visit the Slarecian Vault FAQ!

Speaking of them thar Scarred Lands, the Scarred Lands Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds Kickstarter continues to grow as more people are signing up for late pledges! ICYMI, you can still pledge and get the errata manuscript right away! Errata ends on May 2nd, so don’t wait! Get in your late pledge today!

Since we’re already talking about some Travis stuff, how about I let him talk to you directly about our shows on Twitch and more?

This week on Twitch we have the newest episode of Expanding Your Realms, the new show in which Jack Berkenstock of the Branch Riders team sits down and discusses different elements of this unique and fun setting and system! Don’t miss the show on Tuesdays at 8 PM EDT!

On Thursday at 3 PM EDT Storyguide and author Tom Murr will be on the channel advising you on Guiding the Path! This weekly show talks about tips and tricks for running Storypath Ultra!

Of course next Monday you can catch Mike Athey’s Adventure! actual play Temple of the Moon God love at 9 PM EDT! If you missed any of this programming, don’t fret! Twitch subscribers get instant VOD access, and for everyone else, the videos will be on YouTube roughly 1 week after broadcast!

I wanted to take a moment to bring two items to everyone’s attention. Some good folks in the ttrpg community are in need of help with healthcare, and I’d like to draw your attention to ways you can assist them. First up, there is the Aaron_Ace bundle at DriveThruRPG containing over $400 worth of Savage Worlds material for only $30! Proceeds from this bundle will go to help Aaron Acevedo, an artist whose body of work includes work for Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Onyx Path, and the company he co-founded, Sigil Entertainment. Aaron is a talented artist who could use some help, and this bundle is a great way to show your support! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/563946/aaron-ace-bundle

Also, Jodi Black, who has been an instrumental figure at Pinnacle Entertainment Group, is currently dealing with some very challenging health issues. Please visit the GoFundMe set up to help her and Clint offset the massive costs they’re facing. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-jodis-fight-against-pulmonary-fibrosis

We wish Aaron and Jodi the best and hope you can help ease their burdens a bit by supporting at the links above!

Thanks Travis, and thanks to all of you who can help out!

Did everybody watch the new vid that materialized last Friday on our YouTube and TikTok? Well, here’s a link to save you lookin’:

It just burns me up when people play with matches like that! Wonder why they even did that?

There’s got to be a jump over the fire pun I could end this week’s MMN blog with, but with allergy season starting to shoot out its puffs of pollen, my head is pretty fuzzy after jumping into all the news above! Ha! Got another one in there just as I close by reminding you all how much we love it when you jump into our:

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Unlike last week’s huge birthday list, this week we’re celebrating one man…Oh Myyyy! It’s the birthday of George Takei; born Hosato Takei, April 20, 1937. An American actor, author, and activist. He is best known for his breakthrough role as Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek franchise. He was born to Japanese-American parents, with whom he lived in Tule Lake Segregation Center during World War II. He began pursuing acting in college, which led in 1965 to the role of Sulu, to which he returned periodically into the 1990s. Upon coming out as gay in 2005, he became a prominent proponent of LGBTQ rights and active in state and local politics. He has been a vocal advocate of the rights of immigrants, in part through his work on the 2012 Broadway show Allegiance, about the internment experience.
