Mee-ow and Us Now! [Monday Meeting Notes]

Just one more delightful piece of art from The Curious Cats of Mau – which I didn’t have time to show during the crowdfunding campaign that successfully wrapped up last Thursday. Over 200% funded and we achieved the Jumpstart that Travis was so excited to be doing if the stretch goal was met! Thanks everybody who contributed!

Mostly, besides the wrapping up of Cats, our MM Notes this week are about the Monday Meeting and what we covered today. Not to say that our Monday Meetings are ever as violent and treacherous as the meeting depicted in this art! Opposing opinions are probably as dangerous as we get, which you’d expect from creators as passionate about what we do as we are.

It’s the time of year where we’re looking forward to the next Virtual Onyx Path Convention, and that involves a lot of prioritizing to determine what games are going to be played, what panels we should have, should we invite guests, if you are trying to schedule an Actual Play then how important is Panel X for you to sit in on, etc.

Big-picture-wise, which is a big part of what we review each week in the meeting, what should our message be this year, overall? What upcoming games are we going to push with panels and Actual Plays on our Twitch? And, an annual favorite, what new projects do we announce at the con?

Knowing that we have a mid-year (ish) convention lets us shape a lot of our communication as we see how the first half of the year went. We internally intended to do X, Y, and Z, but after looking at our creative workload, available freelancers, “first quarter earnings”, etc, maybe we still do X and Y, but Z can wait and instead we’ll do AA. (Pun intended!)

We think we’ve settled on a good balance of programming again this year, with some super gaming partners, so full speed ahead to June 14-16! Hope to see you there! Also, please feel free to send suggestions for what you’d like to engage with during the con – there’s still time for us to tweak and focus the offerings!

And then…More Monday Meeting Mentions

We reviewed the At The Gates Ashcan, so that will be available as a PDF on Weds. It’s a bare-bones version of our newest fantasy game in the Earthbane Cycle, so it’ll give folks a real solid taste of the setting and rules before the actual text is released during its crowdfunding campaign. Which is the next one we’re doing – real dates coming soon!

Danielle and team did a fantastic job evoking the elements we love in JRPGs, as well as taking those elements and creating a bright, fun, and threatened world to play in. Plus, they made the tone dangerous in a very different way than in The World Below, while still working with the Storypath Ultra rules. Even in just the Ashcan, I think those qualities shine forth.

Exigents art by HIVE Studios

Oh, and about the Earthbane Cycle: we’ve very specifically not publicly tied down just what about these fantasy games make them part of Earthbane, or a cycle, so if you see anybody telling you what the connection is as if we announced it…nope, they’re only guessing, themselves. Someday, the truth will be out there, but that day is not today!

We have a couple of new sales starting over at IPR (you know who they are from last week’s blog): CofD: Dark Eras 2 limited edition and some Screens are 75% off and, the deluxe Exalted 3e books and screens sale starts today or tomorrow.

We also have two upcoming Bundle of Holding PDF deals coming in the next couple of months:

CofD: Dark Eras – 4/3 – 4/18
They Came From Beneath the Sea! – 5/13 – 6/3
(Dates subject to change).

They Came From [CLASSIFIED]! art by Luis Sanz

Wrapping things up this week, we reviewed what happened to the PoD version of Many Faced Strangers last week. It did not go on sale Weds as I announced it would in last week’s MMN blog, although the Final PDF did, and so I’m sharing this info with you folks today because we really don’t like not delivering on the date we announced.

Unfortunately, we discovered between Monday and Wednesday that somewhere in the process of replacing a piece of art with a corrected version, that change didn’t actually happen. We thought we were using files that had the changed art in them, but to our surprise somewhere the process glitched and reverted to the old, incorrect, piece.

So it was a tech glitch that we luckily discovered before putting the PoD on sale. Why is that important? Well, we can change a PDF in a few minutes, and then DTRPGs system will let buyers download the fixed one. If you ever got an Advance or Backer PDF from us before we entered in errata and pgXXs and then re-downloaded the final from your Library with those changes, it’s the same relatively painless process.

But PoDs are different since they are physically printed. And we need to see a copy to be sure that the change was made before setting the PoD for sale. This is not a short process; it takes weeks. Weeks where you’re waiting to buy and we’re waiting to sell it to you. But in this case, the change really was important to do, so I hope those of you waiting forgive me for the delay since ultimately it was my call.

Soon, though, as soon as we can make sure it’s the right version!

Thanks, and in the meantime, please do enjoy our other:

Is that what she was running? Is that the Pathcast episode #300 or the game D ran at last year’s Onyx Path Virtual Con?

Exalted Q. In Hundred Night Devils it mentions Great Rocs will be covered in Many-Faced-Strangers, chapter 5. They didn’t show up in the last version I downloaded. Do we know if they will be added to the final version that is going to PoD?
